Help for PCL Torn ligament Page 3 of 4

This is just a forum. Assume posts are not from medical professionals.
But that's very important for him.

As per the MRI report,
Findings: "Normal amount of joint fluid. Patellar and quadriceps tendons are intact. Patellofemoral hyaline cartilage is intact.
Proximal PCL is mildly increased in signal on coronal images 34 and 35 series 4.2 sagittal image 13 series 5 and 6, suspicious for mild strain, but there is no surrounding edema in the notch fatty tissue and no marrow edema.
ACL, MCL and LCL complex are intact.
Medial and lateral menisci are intact as is the hyaline cartilage in the medial and lateral compartments. Subcentimeter bone island in the lateral femoral condyle.
Impression: Question mild sprain of the proximal PCL."

We spoke to the Radiologist and he confirmed that there is no PCL damage or tear. Maybe there is a slight strain or sprain.
The orthopedic Dr. still wants us to go PCL reconstructive surgery doctor as he says that the instability is a ligament problem.
But there is something wrong as he has the problem. So what do you suggest we do.
Thanks.

So, there is no major physical damage around knee joint. That fine. This is not an indication for surgery. Anyone can understand this by common sense. The sprain and it's effects need to be dealt by medicines not by surgery.

Your son has tendency to sprain because of weak connective tissue. So, he has tendency to sprain. It is a medical problem not surgical.
However, I leave the decision to you.
By the way, how is his knee stiffness now?

Hi,

I agree with dr Kulkarni,

One thing to keep in mind is that surgeons always want to do surgery.

First of all, I was wanting your advise on next steps regarding next remedy. Even earlier when the Doctor said that he had PCL tear, we were not wanting to do the surgery. And, now when we know it is only a sprain, there is no way we want to do the surgery.

His current symptoms are:
He has stiffness & pain only sometimes, it's not there always. Yesterday, he was able to dance with brace. In one step where he had to jump and spin, it hurt a little. Also, if he doesn't pay too much attention to knee, it doesn't bother that much. Today he played basketball using brace. It bothered a little but he more careful in how he played.

I would appreciate if you could please tell me what he should take next.
Thanks a lot.

If there is no structural damage and only a sprain,

May I suggest turmeric milk. It can heal most internal injuries effectively with in 10-15 days.use organic home turmeric powder.

I will order Carbo Animalis. I do have Calc Fluor 6x.
Also, I had earlier ordered Calc Carb & Ruta.
Can we give Calc Fluor or some other remedy in the meantime, as it will take some time before I will be able to get Carbo Animalis.
Also, his knee was bothering today, I think because of playing yesterday.
Thanks for the help.

I will be able to advise further only if you update me with his condition.

DrKulkarni 7 years ago
Actually, he didn't have Calc Carb with him. So, he came home on Tuesday and started it then. And, he has taken CALC FLUOR for 2 days now.
Not sure if we would see the results this soon. He played football on Wednesday and didn't get any pain. He is home so not much physical exertion in general.
Thanks.

Also, he is going back tomorrow, so would appreciate if you can tell me what remedies he may possibly need for the next 3 weeks.
Thanks.

suna711 7 years ago
He should stop immediately Calc fl. doses if he senses any new symptoms.

DrKulkarni 7 years ago
Need clarification. I didn't understand about the new symptoms. Are you asking to stop CALC FLUOR. Then what should he take next. Please advise.
Thanks.

suna711 7 years ago
Only if something new (symptom he never had in past) appears. Or if he is completely free of his knee problem.
No need to take anything after that. Just wait for few days.

What about Carbo animalis?

I have the Carbo Animalis now. Please advise on how to take it. He has taken CALC FLUOR for 2 weeks now and we stopped it.

B. Fill 9/10th (90ml) of it with clean potable water.

D. Now it is ready to use. Take APPROXIMATELY 1/4 teaspoonful (1ml) of this solution in 1/2 cup of water as single dose. (You get approx. 90 doses from 100ml bottle).
E. Before each next dose Shake it vigorously for five times (exactly).
F. Repetitions as prescribed above.
G. Nothing else to eat or drink 30 minute before and 30 minutes after the doses.

Do’s & don’ts:

3. Place the prescribed dose under the tongue. Keep the dose for at least 1 minute in mouth.
4. Keep medicine containers airtight, away from direct sunlight, heat, odors and children.
5. Do not take any other medicines for any health problems. Most symptoms go as they come within 24-72 hours. Do not apply any cream/powder etc for skin itching / eruption, if any. Avoid antidandruff shampoos, Medicate soaps, etc.

He has been taking Carbo Animalis as you prescribed.
He was able to jog with less pain the other day. He still can't squat or sit down on the floor in vajrasana or sukhasana, it hurts when he does that. While playing basketball, he is still being careful and tries to play very conservatively and doesn't move openly, because he is scared he will hurt it. It could be a mental block too.

Overall, he thinks about it less as it bothers & pains less, especially since he found out that there is no tear.
Please advise on the next steps.
Also, what do we do with the remaining liquid which is left. Should he finish it?

Thanks for all the help.

suna711 7 years ago
It might be helping him. We need to continue and wait for some more time.
If he has taken Carbo animalis for 2 weeks now let him take it only once a day, else after completion of 2 weeks.
Update after 2 weeks or as needed.

DrKulkarni 7 years ago
He has been taking the medicine as prescribed for the last 2.5 weeks. Knee in general is mostly same. Sitting down with no space for legs hurts sometimes because knee is bent. Same sitting in sukhasana. He is been playing basketball but takes it easy. Please advise if should continue taking the same medicine. Also, please let us know if any potential medicines he may need, so I can get them.
Thanks for the help.
