Sepsis...Emergency Please Help

My Brother is in dire need of help and my homeopaths are at an NCH conference.

Brief history:

28 yo Male
5'11" 525 lbs.

Heavy smoker, prescription drug abuser (percoset and lortab 6 at a time several times a day) marijuana smoker, recovered crack/cocaine addict (2.5 years clean) past heroin use (no addiction) past lsd and ecstacy use.

Highly addictive personality, addictions include:

Cigarettes, food, drugs, alcohol, spending lots of money on women (most likely for attention), SUGAR- sodas, fruit punch, yogurt, donuts-once he finds a vice he sticks with it for a while then moves he moves onto the next.

Health History:

Asthma (heavy reliance on albuterol), sleep apnea, morbid obesity, COPD, chronic bronchitis, yearly battles with pnuemonia, double walking pnuemonia, and pleurisy.

Out of breath (like he ran a marathon to get from the living room to the rest room), severe fungal infection on feet drives him to cut at his feet with toe nail clippers, heels are THICK with skin that is split like a dry river bed, infection itches badly between toes. Poor circulation to legs has caused severe swelling in lower legs and 'burnt' scaly looking discoloration from knees down worse near ankles. Falls asleep anywhere (not narcoleptic but from CO2 build-up and lack of oxygen) also related to sleep apnea. Eyes get drowsy while driving, while smoking, drops lit cigarettes when he falls asleep, sleep walks, sleeps standing up, sleep apnea drives him to sit straight up at night to sleep.

CURRENT CONDITION:

In ICU, diagnosis: respiratory failure

high fever sustained for 2 weeks 103-104 degrees with ice blanket and tylenol

low oxygen and high carbon dioxide levels without medical intervention

SWOLLEN extremities, legs feel tight, pitting edema from knee down and elbow down, cartoon appearance to lower arms and legs, like a surgical glove blown into a balloon

hot spots on his left arm, comes and goes in various locations. (shoulder and between wrist and elbow)

bed sores on gluteus, just beginning

dropping platelet count

DVT (deep vein thrombosis) bilaterally in jugulars

bleeding from trach after anti-coagulant, no bleeding since surgi-seal

rash on forehead

petechea on shoulders

face turns blue-purple when he is rolled

ODOR (toxic smell)

foot fungus (similar symptoms on hands and feet) may be on his hands, skin build up along outside edges of his hands (from pinky to wrist and on knuckles and fingers) causes him to pick at fingers, it is itchy and has blistered areas.

candida found in his lungs as well as bacteria (gram positive cocci with rods identified in sputum culture unable to grow or identify)

sepsis is suspected

Personal History:

Giving
Loving
Generous-to extremes
HOLDS GUILT (feels guilty that I was raped, I asked him for a ride to a party and he refused, I sought my own ride and was raped and he feels it is his fault for not taking me to the party)(Our dog was hit by a car and feels it is his fault for forgetting the dog outside)
He cannot forgive himself for these things and has subsequently packed on weight and drowned himself in drugs and alcohol

Everything about him is extreme:

weight
obsessions
addictions
generosity
guilt
rages (over defending himself or a loved one)

this tendency for extremes is seen everywhere in his life-even at the hospital-extremely low oxygen, extremely high CO2, extremely high fever, stats move from extremely high to extremely low back to extremely high, needed extremely high doses of meds. to keep him sedated, extreme proceedures to raise his oxygen stats (reverse breathing from 1:2 to 3:1)

PLEASE, PLEASE, help us. I will post more soon but baby just woke up.

I am a student of homeopathy and I think that this is his best chance for survival right now.

I wish I could give a better picture but he is unable to speak after 2 weeks of intubation, sedation, and paralyzers. Will try to post more in a bit, please ask questions if it will help lead to a remedy, he can answer us by blinking once for yes and twice for no.

Many, many, many blessings!

Thank you so much for your reply!

We (our whole family) have already decided to do candida diet, I am nursing a 3 week old with thrush so we all need a good candida cleansing. I won't let anything else in the house!

Right now he is on Pulmacare(?) a liquid that goes in his feeding tube. I wouldn't doubt that it has sugar, milk, etc. that would feed those nasty yeasties.

He is still in ICU (15 days now) and my father has counted 12 bags of various IV fluids hanging at his bedside. I am not sure what to do about that. Will they interfere with the remedy? I can get you the names of the meds. that he is on. He is on the two strongest antibiotics that the hospital has and nystatin for the candida. I am not sure how much I can interfere with meds and food until he is out of the hospital. As far as the enzymes and probiotics go, how can we get that in him? He is sedated mostly, can only open one eye and can not speak and has a feeding tube in his nose.

Please let me know the next step to take! I can get the Hepar Sulph. Calc. in him tomorrow. But what do I do until he is out of the hospital and in our care where we are in charge?

Vanessa 4 week old female
8lbs. 12oz. at birth 21.25 in.
Apgars were 10/10
Born at home under water at 40 weeks and 5 days gestation
Easy unmedicated labor...active labor was 6.5 hours, out in 2 pushes, 1st push 5 min. head was out, 2nd push 4 min. baby was born, I pulled her up to my chest and she nursed for the first time about 10 min. after birth. Placenta detached after 30 min. and her umbilical cord was not clamped until the blood stopped pumping around 30 min. after birth.

I tested GBS+ (beta-hemolytic streptococcus positive culture at 37 weeks gestation)which was treated with freshly crushed garlic and goldenseal douche nightly for 7 nights. In case of GBS colonization in the baby I monitored her pulse, respiration, fever and activity, all of which were normal, every 4 hours for the first week of her life. Her 1st pediatric visit was at 24 hours she weighed 8 lbs. 4 oz. She had meconium in her diaper almost every diaper change for 2-3 days. She had PKU screening at 3 days and tested normal and weighed 8 lbs. 0 oz. She was jaundice and placed in the window daily and nursed often, on day three she had 3 wet diapers that contained bilirubin. Her 2nd pediatric visit was at 4 days old, she weighed 8 lbs. 6 oz. She was still very jaundice appearing to the pediatrician but looked a lot less yellow to me. Pediatrician wanted to check her bilirubin which was 8.5 and she did a cbc and showed her white blood cell count at 11.4, nurse said she had thrush, doctor said it was not 'characteristic' (it appears as a THICK white coating on the tongue). I told her my history with breastfeeding, antibiotics, and subsequent thrush and she prescribed nystatin just in case. We have not filled the prescription.

She was taken to see the chiropractor at 24 hours old and was in perfect alignment. At weeks two and three she had her first adjustments. Her atlas and cervical vertebrae were adjusted.

My daughter is gassy and has a harder time burping than my son did. After nursing for a while she will squirm and kick her legs and may cry out. Her face turns red and she winces in pain. I don't consider her colicky as this is not much of a problem, most of the time she is sleeping or nursing contently without any tummy troubles. She hiccups alot and that seems to bother her. She spits up but not too bad. I put her up on my shoulder to burp her and she only burps about half the time. It seems to ease her pain though. She sleeps well when I am sleeping with her. She is easily woken if I am not next to her but she'll sleep like a log if I am beside her. She likes to nurse to sleep. She wakes only twice in the night to nurse and returns promptly to sleep, this is over a 12 hour period. She doesn't seem to mind breezes as we always sleep with the windows open and fans on and she doesn't complain. She will kick off her blanket if she is in her bouncy chair. She just learned to roll from her tummy to her back and seems very pleased with herself, she spent alot of time yesterday mastering her technique. She seems very happy, she loves her brother, he plays with her alot and she looks to the direction of his voice. She doesn't complain often, she might let out a 'waaahhhh' and then quietly awaits me. As soon as I come near her and she hears my voice she knows she will be taken care of at that point. She will cry if I am busy and can not attend to her right away. She can easily take a 4 hour nap if not disturbed. She has baby acne at 3 weeks to present.

She is exclusively breastfed. I took Nat. Mur. in January 2006 as a constitutional remedy and Kali Sulph. in March 2006 as an acute for ear infection and mucous that wouldn't leave after a cold. This was taken in 30c potency before her birth and in 200c potency after. I didn't take prenatal vitamins, maybe a few here or there, but I was on a strong vitamin regimin before I knew I was pregnant. I took alot of b-vitamins, especially folic acid, in the 1st and 2nd month of pregnancy. I was laid off of work after I had just leased an apartment and ate very poorly for a while and couldn't afford prenatals anymore. I lived off of the food I got from WIC- milk, cheese, cereal, juice, peanut butter, and eggs, and the fast food my roommate brought home. My diet now is much the same, except now WIC includes carrots and tuna. I have intense sugar cravings, I want to eat sweets.

Breakfasts will be granola bars, pancakes and eggs, blueberry bagels with cream cheese, or cereal with skim milk.

Lunches are peanut butter and honey sandwiches on whole wheat bread or health nut bread, or granola bars, cottage cheese with applesauce or pineapple, or cheese and tuna on whole wheat crackers, or cereal and milk. I eat dinner leftovers whenever available which isn't very often. I usually eat a big breakfast and a late snack like lunch. Fruit whenever it is available.

Dinner is usually more healthy, chicken and rice, vegetarian chili, salad and quiche, tuna wraps, twice baked potatoes, potatoes au gratin, corn, green beans, mixed veggies, peas, carrots, etc. Pineapple pizza maybe a couple times a month.

I have a moderate thirst and drink distilled water, 100% fruit juices, and skim milk.

Last month of pregnancy I craved fresh fruit and ice cream. I ate lots of apples, grapes, and oranges and if I was out I would get a soft serve ice cream. I ate alot of yogurt as well.

To fill you in on my past history with thrush and antibiotic usage, my son and I were prescribed amoxicillin in August of 2003 and 1st developed thrush used nystatin and had no problems until 2nd dose of amoxicillin in December of 2003 (used by my son only) and developed thrush again. Dr.s refused to believe that he had thrush because it was not 'characteristic' (meaning no white spots or milky coating on inside of cheeks and on gums) although he (and now my daughter) had a thick white coating on the tongue. And I had sore nipples. This white coating was not supposed to be able to wipe away (if it is 'true thrush') but I used a toothbrush on his and hers and it will come up after some brushing but not very easily. Dr. had prescribed such a small amount of nystatin that it never took care of the problem, every time my son caught a cold my nipples would get sore and as he recovered so would I. We used alot of probiotics daily and ate yogurt daily. After several months, I was sore all of the time that he nursed and when I became pregnant with my daughter in June of 2005, I was sore to the touch and would sometimes cry out if my nipples were touched or bumped and would cringe and sometimes cry out when my son would latch on for a nursing. He was weaned in February 2006 when I could no longer take the pain and was advised by my homeopath to stop. In the beginning of Jan. 2006, my homeopath gave Nat. Mur. 30c wet dose for one week on and one week off and one week on 200c. My son was given Silica 30c wet dose for one week. We weaned off nursing over the next few weeks.

Thank you so much for looking at her case. If you have any other questions please let me know.
