How to choose the right practitioner?

Greetings all, I'm a new member on this board and have lurked around the archives, looking for any topics that may have already covered this question. I'm looking forward to using these boards!

I reside in Toronto and am glad to say I've really taken an interest in Homeopathy. I'm currently searching for a practitioner that would best suit my concerns, namely some chronic conditions that I've had for quite some time.

Some of the more serious symptoms (IMO) include:

-Some gradual hair loss over the last 11 months, especially around back of head and right temple
- Eyes which have yellowed by their corners
- Crackling sound in ears, which I'm guessing is some trapped fluids or excessive sinus pressure. I feel some slight loss of hearing overall
- Very pale, with cold hands and feet
- Insomonia
- Stomach tightness
- Sunken eyes
- Lack of thirst and appetite

Some emotional and mental characteristics:

- Feel somewhat empty on the inside
- Very anxious and angry at times
- I prefer to be alone
- Work and music always on my mind
- Very patient and quiet
- Few close friends

The Basics:
- 20 years of age, male
- 144 pounds, about 6 feet tall
- Single

- I understand there is much more to be listed in detail, but considering all the symptoms I've listed, I'm seeking the help of a practioner specializing in Classical Homeopathy. With regard to the vast medicines used, and the comprehensive case taking procedure, my over all concern is that it will be quite difficult to choose the exact medicine specific to my individual state. What are some things to look for before consulting a Homepathic practitioner?

I've heard nothing but good things about Homeopathy, and that the results achieved can really alter the way you live so that you may experience better health on all levels.

I'm also very shy before trying new things, but I would really like to give Homeopathy a try.

Many thanks for your time and help!

Can anyone provide any tips on selecting

This is just a forum. Assume posts are not from medical professionals.
Yes homeopathy would be suitable for your case!.

Kent once said that Homeopathy NEVER fails ---- only the person administering it!.

So care is required in selecting a practitioner .

Ask around - only go to someone who is personally vouched for , and visit to see if you are 'in tune' with the person.

Time spent at this end of the process is worthwhile , because if you become a 'spoiled case' then it is hard work for someone else.

Thanks Walkin, so far I've found a practitioner who has about 6 years under belt and is the maanager of a Homeopathic clinic where 6 other practitioners pratice.

What exactly do you mean by spoiled case?

Thanks again!

Apart from reputation assigned to a doctor by the patients by word of mouth, the rule of thumb is beware of those homeopaths who dispense unlabelled pills and call you every now and then and dispense more unlabelled pills to you. As dose repeatition in homeopathy is rather limited, what they often give mostly you on you every follow up visit are placebo pills.

I personally know many such qualified classical homeopaths who fleece the patients like this.

Dear Melman

There is an interesting article on the forum titled, 'Homeopathy - The Core principles', read it, it might enhance your knowledge about homeopathy.

Are you constipated as well, your brief symptoms point towards some thyroid inactivity, investigate your thyroid, and then stick to an experienced/professional homeopath.

I totally agree with Mohan, and there is an old homeopathic saying about dosage, it says ' Less is better', so anyone prescribing you kilos and kilos of pills is not a homeopath, but a kuack.

regards

Thanks for the heads up Mohan, I'll be sure that his reputation lies in his success rate and in any case avoid any Homeopaths who gives out a lot of pills. I'll check the article and read and thoroughly.

Hey Sazim, come to think of it sometimes I experience constipation, but very mild and quick in duration.

I'll contact our family physician and get my thyroid checked as well as regular blood work and see if there's anything to note. I'll then proceed wtih the Homeopathic approach as right after my business with our MD, I really can't say much about Allopathy aside from its use in diagnosis.

I also forgot to mention I took Accutane three years ago and although my skin cleared up, I still get some outbreaks every so often. Believe me, if I had known how toxic it was and had more sense, I would of never taken it. Ever since, the best way to describe my skin is that it has a rough and brittle look and feel to it. I also find that I scar easily and they don't heal as cleanly, leaving behind a trace/mark in most cases.

Aside from the H.D. credentials under the practitioners name, what are some other qualifications that would increase my chance of success?

Thanks again guys!

Beware of homeopaths who want to control you as in the case of using plasibo pills or being secretaive.

In my experience, homeopaths like to pull the wool over their patients and prefer that we remain ignorant.

Learn something about homeopathy just to stay on the allert and keep from getting brainwashed.

Beware of homeopaths who want full control over you by telling you to get off your supplements and discourage you from seeking other forms of professional help whether alternative or allopathic help.

I would like to add to my previous message, if you are from India, beware of Batras who spend lakhs of Rs. on fancy expensive adds on the front page of daily newspapers and even TV to ensnare ignorant desperate patients and empty their pockets.

mine on several occassions made strong indications that people would stop stalking me. But it has only gotton much worse. Since this thread started I remembered another man who was stalking me in his own unique way and now I'm going into a very deep depression.

On the very first visit with my homeoapth he indicated that homeoapthy would help me meet someone nice to get married to.

That's where the initials NSA came from

No
Stalking
Allowed

Sometimes, those we seek out to help us take advantage of our weaknesses. This is probably why there are laws like therapist cannot get sexually involved with their patients. Or a teacher cannot legally get involved with her students.

Those are very ridiculous claims Paris, and I'll be sure to clearly state my need for Homeopathy and my realistic expectations to my chosen practitioner as clearly as possible. In the event that my practitioner starts making claims like that, I'll have to move on so I don't fall in too deep.

Thanks Mohan, here in Toronto I haven't seen any cases of Homeopaths stealing money from patients by their unworthy practice. Believe me, in the western world there's still a lot of skepticism about alternative therapies. If a Homeopath tried that in Canada they would have it on the news the very next day, and try to convince people that all alternative medicine and Homeopaths are bad because of the actions of just one practitioner.

I always thought that MDs were the crooked professionals and power abusers, but I'll have to extend that awareness to Homeopathy since it's my first time. But thus far the practitioner I'm booking an appointment with seems very professional and legimate in his ethics and concern, so once I meet him I'll have a much better idea and I can get the procedure under way if he's the best qualified practitioner for my case.

Many thanks again!
