herniated disc in lower back

My MRi indicates a herniated disc L5 S1. This has meant lots of pain. I used to have sciatica where the pain ran down my leg, but physiotherapy has controlled that. I still undergo lots of pain and back sensitivity, particularly in times of stress.
Is there a particular homeopathic remedy which assists the repair of a herniated disc?

This is just a forum. Assume posts are not from medical professionals.
Arnica 30c in the wet dose may help you.

It has helped many patients who were suffering from chronic back pain for which they were taking analgesic drugs for many years and there is a possibility that it may also help your problem.

The wet dose is made by inserting 3 pellets of a reputed brand of Arnica 30c into a 500ml bottle of spring water which is succussed or shaken hard to ensure bubbling. A dose is a teaspoonful taken after succussing 3 times daily.

Sciatica can be helped with another remedy but I would not like you to use it with the Arnica which you can use immediately.

I hope that you are not using drugs to control your pain as the Arnica will not help if you take them.

Report response in a week.

NO, I am avoiding medicines as much as possible. That said, when I am in a period of inflammation, I take advil. Also, as i suffer from headaches from time to time, I take advil for that too (as tylenol does nothing for me anymore). Taking advil is more of a once a week or every two weeks phenomena through.
I have ben prescribed arnica in the past, but not as you have done so. I will try again and let you know of results.

along with arnica you should use hypericum 30 also it is useful in nerve injuries and any damage to nerves.
use that medicine only after observing the action of arnica only,

I agree with Raman but would suggest that you use Hypericum 200c in the wet dose which I have found to be more effective to alleviate your pain. You can take in every 4 hours which is usually the time within which it is able to work.

Unfortunately, since my original post, I have taken a turn for the worse. In 2002, I was diagnosed with a 'disc herniation' bulging to my back right side and sciatic pain went down my right leg. After the pain had subsided from that acute problem, I was trying to deal with small aches and pains from the weak disc. However, since May, I have been suffering from sciatic pain down my left leg, and the MRI is showing a 'LARGE disc herniation' to my back left side now.
I have not tried the remedies suggested above. I have consulted with a number of hoeopathic experts in the past few months, and my confusion is that each one has prescribed something different, and none have prescribed the medicines mentioned in this post. Obviously, none of the medicines they recommended have worked. At some point, I think I will try the medicines mentioned above as it is the first time I have noticed consensus amongst homeopathic experts and I have not tried them yet -- but I am wary given that there has been no one-on-one time and I am terrified of making my pain and condition worse than it already is.

Hello.

Thanks for your prompt reply. I'm sorry to hear about your condition. I heard that the steroid shots help with physical therapy. Maybe you can try that. WEll i was thinking of getting the arnica 30c that was prescribed this week. I'll let you know if it helps. Take Care

Hi Bluetopaz,
I'm suffering from a herniated disc at the minute myself and to be honest mine started about a week ago and i have been taking arnica and hypericum 30c in the wet dose and please believe me it is working, the only way i can describe my progress is to tell you i would normally still be lying down at this stage and pain so unbearable still fresh and walking bent over and on my hands and knees, now i never got to the hands and knees stage and i would say i was in week three were ya start straightening up and the pain is dull and aching, i know its definately because of the remedy because i'm not using anything else only paracetamol,, so i think you should really try it, it works

I have noted the exchange of views about the Arnica 30c and the Hypericum 200 which I prefer to use as I have discovered the 30c is not potent enough.

Arnica 30c will help to rebuild the affected tissue or bone or whatever is causing the pain.

Hypericum 200c will help to deaden the pain. A teaspoonful is good for about 4 hours when a recharge is necessary.

I also use Colocynthis 200 specifically for Sciatica and this has worked in a number of cases.

All remedies to be used in the wet dose which is made by inserting 3 pellets of the remedy into a 500ml bottle of spring water which is succussed before a dose of a teaspoonful is sipped.

Leave an hour between remedies.

Thank you very much. I can't tell you how much I appreciate your feedback. Last night, I spent 1.5 hours with a homeopathic specialist and await her prescription some time today or tomorrow. I am anticipating that she will prescribe the same medicines while in the acute condition, but will eventually treat me constitutionally as well to prevent a recurrence. I will let you know how things go.

I hope that you will ask your homeopath what the remedies are by name. Most of them prefer to not disclose what they are giving you and you must insist on knowing the name of the remedy for which you are paying your homeopath.

I would doubt very much that she will prescribe the same remedies that I have and this is the reason why I would like to know what she uses.

All I can tell you is that I have yused these same remedies to help many who were supposed to be chronic cases which had been treated by doctors, ayurvedic physicians and later by classical homeopaths like the one you consulted and some even discovered that the remedies prescribed made a bad situation even worse which I can assure you will not hapen with those that I have prescribed.

Funny you say that -- I was prescribed a cocktail remedy by a homeopath, but he refused to tell me what was in it. He told me to start with it. When the pain got worse, he told me to keep taking it. When I was in my most acute state (which was a couple of months ago), he reinforced that I should keep taking what he had given me. Previously, another homeopath had prescribed a number of medicines to me, probably too many (Sulphur, nux vomica, bryonia and arnica), and they did not do much, but at least I did not get worse. It was the 'secretive' homeopath who told me that all of them were wrong, and then he gave his cocktail. It was that experience that has spooked me regarding homeopaths -- I believe in the practice, I am having trouble finding someone credible and who will fix me. The person I saw last night promised me that she would disclose everything to me (fingers crossed).

As a general rule I feel that the patient must inquire from the Homeopath perhaps when getting an appointment, whether he/she will disclose the remedy that will eventually be used. It would also be rational for the patient to inquire during the 90 minute consulltation the rational for her selection of the remedy.

This is the least that a patient can expect from the homeopath as they do not come cheap.

This is the great advantage of posting an ailment on a forum such as this as the person prescribing the remedy is doing so in public, open to all members including qualified and perhaps non qualified homeopaths like me. In my case I just refuse to use the classical method as I prefer to use the direct approach also known as Joepathy as I have faith in my method because the results have been very positive so far.

The point I wish to make is that any failure on the part of the remedy prescribed on this forum to help and eventually cure the ailment is open to members and can be criticized, and that rightly by anyone who cares to do so, if it does not help.

It is rarely that the patient once cured spends a few minutes in recording his cure let alone express his appreciation of his cure to the prescriber.

It is not that I wish to emphasize that the patient must always do so but it seems to me only natural that he should show some sign of appreciation of the successful resolution of his ailment for which he may like you, have consulted other classical types who would have emulated your homeopath's example in eliciting information for an hour and a half and eventually comes up with a constitutional remedy when you the patient went to the homeopath to help your back to heal ASAP. It is unfortunate that the constitutional remedy that may be prescribed will only condition your body to respond to the cure which may take many visits to your homeopath in the future.

I shall follow your case with interest and I would suggest that you do not use the remedies that I have indicated openly to you which anyone who cares to study your case on this forum can also study and even criticize perhaps because they were not formulated in the classical manner after a long interview. I would far prefer that you use your homeopath's remedy/ies and report the success or otherwise of this classical prescription on this forum.

It may be also be of interest if you would inform your homeopath that a non qualified but dedicated homeopath living in Sri Lanka would like her to disclose the remedies that she would be prescribing to you for purposes of record.
