Lycopodium & Depression

Hello guys!

I would like to know if there is a risk in taking Lycopodium Clavatum 200C once a week for a couple of weeks in order to relieve mild-moderate symptoms of depression (e.g. low self-esteem, etc)?

Two years ago, I consulted a homeopath due to mild acne and she gave me lycopodium which instead improved my mood and emotional state dramatically - Gee, I was "high" for about two weeks before it stopped and since then I haven't been able to "return" to that fantastic mental state of mad joy and well being! As a matter of fact, my homepath thinks she gave me a much too high potency (1M, I think it was)for much too long (about a month) Afterwards, my mood changed for the worse and she gave me Sulphur for a short while, which didn't last either ): However, even though I can positively say that Lycopodium DID have a permanent effect on me (I'm more open and relaxed with people & my skin actually i proved a bit) I would like to try it once again

Shouldn't I go for lycopodium again since I know for sure that it's the remedy that pertains to me, or what.

Suggestions? I just don't want to get really happy on Lycopodium again only to return to my old semi-depressed mental state again.

Thanks a lot in advance ;)

Regards,

Reidun

This is just a forum. Assume posts are not from medical professionals.
Lyc might or might not be the right remedy. this remains to be seen after a proper case analysis.
another thing is the risk, you were talking about:
too long intake of ANY remedy will most likely result in a 'proving". that means you prove the remedy and develop symptoms of it, which it cures in the sick.
if lyc is NOT your simillimum, means if it does not cure all your symptoms "in a heart beat", there is only 2 possibilities left for a reaction of your body-soul-mind:
the closer the realationship to the remedy you might get an antipathic reaction to lyc, this is, when the energy of lyc has a strong affinity to your own one (in a positive or negative - or better opposite way). You will develop interesting symptoms and those that are mental/emotional or strange, rare or peculiar.
if the remedy does not have any relation to your own inner energy, you will develop symptoms only if you take it again and again.these symptoms will be more common and on a particular basis, means, they will most liekly occor on physical level and and certain body parts.

sounds to me, like you proved Lyc after such a long intake of high potency on an antipathic level, which doesn't surprise, as you would expect a homeopath maybe NOT choosing the simillimum with the first try, but at least pick one that has a great relation / affinity to you, the patient.

if you repeat intake of the remedy you are 'proving' while there are still any symptoms from this proving, you will most likely 'engraft' these symptoms on your constitution and a cure of these will forever be impossible. That's the deal. 1M is a high potency and might act in you for a very long time. it's supposed to be taken once (in classic homeopathy) and not once a day. i have no idea, which damage the long intake already might have caused, and maybe it didn't at all. (you didn't mention if you took it weekly or daily...) But i certainly wouldn't take it even in a low potency right away without discussing it with my doctor.
And then C200 i wouldn't take for long but - and That's the rule:
Take it, until some drastic changes occur. until something changes. for better or worse. Then stop immediately intake and let the remedy act until it's done. THEN: evaluate the case new and see, if the same remedy is still indicate and repeat it if necessary or take a different one.

this is a very common thing about homeopathy - not only in layman:
take a remedy too often too long to much. It's not an advil that lasts the body for 4 hours, it's an impulse on the vital force in form of energy, and that vital force needs to get a chance to react and level out. by repeating intake over and over, you only confuse the vital force and might seriously damage it.

Thank you sooo much for your thourough description of possible side effects of Lyc! What you write is certainly warning enough for me.

Yes, I did get Lyc 1M once a week for one month 2 years ago, and like I said in my first post, I developed a crazy state of happiness which lasted two weeks and then, BAM!! Lyc stopped working and I returned to my usual mental state, which was very depressing for me.

But I know that I still have a typical Lycopodium personality and that Lyc could still help - would it hurt, do you think, to take just a SINGLE dose of LYC 30C, for instance? Then wait at least a week and see if my self-image/esteem improves?

I hope you will reply to this post, you have already been very helpful and I thank you in advance.

Yours gratefully,

Reidun
