Reaction to MSG
My daughter gets severe headaches when MSG has been ingested. Also, the muscles in the shoulders and neck area become very tight and sore/achy. Generally, the headache is at the back of the head and often on the left side of the head around the temple and eye area. Other symptoms (depending on the amount consumed) can be light sensitivity, nausea, movement sensitivity, and even vomiting although not always. Can anyone offer some suggestions? We have been to the doctor and the chiropractor and nothing has helped short of avoiding MSG which is not always easy unless you cook every thing yourself and even then sometimes it creeps in through hidden sources.

This is just a forum. Assume posts are not from medical professionals.
I've been avoiding MSG for years, including 'hidden MSG' in hydrolyzed protein and autilyzed (sp?) yeast. It's not that hard. I heard once that it may have something to do with liver function. You might just try seeing a homeopathist for her overall health and maybe she can eventually get over it. Avoiding it isn't that difficult, though.
