please god help me--FIP in my cat soul mate

Hello. I have a cat who is so dear to me that I really cannot even describe how I will feel if I lose him. He is an orange male tabby--probaby about 2 1/2 years old.

In short, he went to vet because he had fever and was lethargic. Same thing happened two years ago. Blood found in urine, gave antibiotics. Vet also ran blood tests and then titer (?) test. Both were positive for FIP (I've read enough to know this doesn't mean he has FIP for sure). But he seems lethargic and possibly still feverish, even though antibiotics are finished.

Assuming he has FIP, and he is in the early stages (just slightly lethargic and feverish), please tell me what should I give him and where can I order to get most quickly? Are there local homeopathic vets? I live in Winter Garden, Florida--just outside Orlando.

I want to help this cat more than you can imagine.

Thank you so much to anyone in advance. Please be specific and comprehensive--I don't have any familiarly with homeopathic remedies for cats. I need a list that you would give to a third grader. :)

Thank you so much for ay help.

This is just a forum. Assume posts are not from medical professionals.
Tina, it is very difficult to treat FIP homeopathically, so you don't want a 'list', you want solid recommendations by a homeopathic vet specific for your cat. You may be able to obtain help at either otherhealth.com or at Yahoo's homeopathic discussion group, 'ClassicalHomeopathyPets'. The Yahoo group has a list of very good U.S. homeopathic vets you could (for a charge) consult with long distance. There is also information in Don Hamilton's excellent paperback, 'Homeopathic Care for Cats and Dogs'. Check also the forum archives at hpathy.com. You could also search the archives on this forum, and maybe someone here will have an idea.

Good luck!

Daisy,

Thank you so much. I have called and found a homeopathic vet locally. I have an appointment Friday. I will also check the lists that you gave me later in the day.

I just hope my little buddy doesn't start to decline more before Friday.

This cat is exactly like my first born child (esp. since I don't have any children yet). Wonderful--such a loving disposition you just would not believe it. But thank you so much. I really want to try to boost his immune system and treat him somehow/someway . . . if there is any possibility of improvement.

Tina, there are huge differences in the abilities of homeopathic vets. Very few good ones out there. If you have a good one locally, you are very fortunate.

One recommended homeopathic vet in Florida, who probably does phone consultations, is Larry Bernstein of North Miami Beach (www.naturalholistic.com). It might be worth a call to him. He might also know if there is someone qualified closer to you or if the vet you have in mind is up to snuff.
