poly neuropathy

About 9 or 10 years ago I started noticing numbness in my feet (particularly in the balls of my feet). I didn t have it checked for 2 or 3 years. Then I had poly neuropathy diagnosed. At that time there was apparently nothing to treat it with. A couple years later I found out they use neurontin and I started taking it. (Neurontin is not a cure, according to my doctor but it helps keep it from getting worse.) This numbness with tingling and feeling of cramping spread thru my feet and up above my ankles. I do not have diabetes. Last year I found a physical therapy clinic that treated me for about 60 days with anodyne therapy. That therapy helped me go from 70% numb to 20% numb. I am still taking my neurontin but I would like to clear it up if it is possible. Anyone have advice??? thanks....

This is just a forum. Assume posts are not from medical professionals.
I was diagnosed with poly peripheral neuropathy about 6 years ago. I do not have diabetes. Went to 3 different neurologists and they could not figure out why and they said there was no way to cure it. One put me on Neurontin to help with the pain but it made me feel very weird and stopped taking it. They then put me on Trileptal. Neither one helped my pain much. My neuropathy started out with a lot of pain in my feet and legs. Now it has spread to my hips. I still have pain but mostly I have a numbness in different areas of my feet and legs. There is a really good website through the fibromyalgia foundation. It has been very helpful dealing with this problem. At least I am not as frustrated and I don't feel so alone. It was just so hard to accept that this day and age, they couldn't cure me. Being a nurse made it harder for me to accept. I hope you will check out the fibromyalgia foundation. It really seems to be up to date with information regarding this condition. I hope this reply helps a little.

to reba933.. in the search forum window type in neuropathy and read the remedy offered by sajjad to another sufferer of neuropathy. He says carbo vegetabilis 30c, 5 drops, 3 times daily has good clinical record, but it is a long term treatment. I don t know how long term but I ordered 8 oz bottle and I m willing to try it. I don t know if I should quit taking the neurontin or not. I will try to find out..
