Tonsillectomy - Post surgery
I'd like to hear only stories of people that have had their tonsils removed. What can be expected and did it actually help with issues such as bad breath, white bumps..etc
Can you describe the post surgery pain, care, days you were off work?
I am scheduled to have mine removed this year and wanted to know if the pain will be worth it..
Thanks

This is just a forum. Assume posts are not from medical professionals.
I had my tonsils out a week ago. Although the pain was very bad, it was worth it. My breath was very bad, but now it feels wonderful! A few days after the op, there will be big scabs where the tonsils were. These will look and smell disgusting for a few days but will gradually fade away. This is normal. My throat was very very sore right up to my ears, this lasts up to 10 days. You just need to take lots of painkillers and antibiotics. I am currently off for 3 weeks. Hope this helps, it was well worth it!

I had my tonsils out January 3rd 2012. First take your meds, set the alarm for every 4 hours and drink water constantly. If your throat drys out you will wish you would die. My doctor told me it would be like a very sore throat. Yeah right it was right up there with child birth for pain.
I lost over 10 pounds in 2 weeks. The blender is the only reason I didn't lose more. I found chicken soup with rice to work well pureed and then a ton of water added to it. Or mashed potatoes.
I had a nasoplasty done at the same time so I had issues trying to swallow anything the first 24 hours. Breathing was interesting too.
Now I have dry throat, lack of taste and it feels like I am being choked at times. I found quite a few people online who have this same problem. So ask your doctor before you have the procedure done. I did it due to being sick every couple of weeks and my tonsils were perma swollen to where food was gagging me.

Hi- if you search and read on forum
posts by Maheeru ( he has many
cases where he advised staphysagria
to stop post surgical pains.-worked
very well.
You might want to do a separate thread
asking him if this would work
for the tonsillectomy or anything
else that would be good to take
pre op and post op.
Regards,
Simone
