low ferritn level anemia

I had gastric bypass in 2002 so I know my iron absorption level is not as good as normal but tests show that I am absorbing iron however my body is not storing it. My ferritin level was 1.9 and I am getting iron by IV 3 times a week. I would like to know of alternatives to this. I am exhausted, anemic, cold, have hairloss, somewhat depressed. I just had uterine thermal ablasion to stop heavy menstrual periods. A blood vessle in my hand broke and also one in my eye in the last couple of weeks. I can't get enough meat--I crave it. Because of all the IV my arms are like pin cushions and I am bruised and bruise easily. Did I mention how tired I am? Any help would be greatly appreciated. I take a multi vitamin, synthroid (hypo thyroidism), vitamines D, E, C, B-12, calcium, zinc, iron, stool softner, and magnesium.
