pls, i need advise: my doggy is having an hernia surgery
hi, i would like some guidance cause my dog is going to have a surgery, he's got a perianal hernia, one side worst than the other, the vet also wants to castrate him to avoid the prostatic gland inflamation.my dog is very healthy and with high vitality, 11 years old, a mix between bloodhound and collie. vets say that his behaviour is like salukis, independent and dominant, he's very kind and was rised like a home pet.
plese let me know if there's any homeo remedy that could make him better prepared to the surgery and /or recover faster/
i'm giving him bach flower remedies, (rescue, star of b., walnut.,mimulus, olive).
thanx a lot in advance

This is just a forum. Assume posts are not from medical professionals.
Give your dog arnica before and after surgery.

Use it in 1M one dose before the day of surgery and one dose after surgery.
To prevent scar, you can prepare calendula in water(you can refer one of my earlier post/other posts from the forum about how to make) apply it externally and if required could be given internally. Frequency will be 6x thrice daily for a couple of weeks.

Hi maheeru!
Thanx for your advice! My dog is now at home and the surgery was successful, (six days ago), he doesnt seem to have healing pain, so I know Arnica is making its work.
As you also advised, Im giving him Calendula and applying it to the scar too. My only doubt is if the calendula gel couldnt be more effective as it can remain in the place for more time than a liquid aplication.
Thanx again and regards

Hi doguiowner
It's a good thing that your pet is having quiet healing after surgery. Thanks for your feedback.
If you can get calendula cream or gel without any other interfering ingredients you can use that.
