The ABC Homeopathy Forum

Symptoms as a guide to the treatment By Rajan Sankaran.

Homeopathic treatment is based on the symptoms of the patient. Thus before the
Diagnosis is clear or before the disease progresses from a functional level to structural changes. Homeopathy can treat and revert the progress of the disease. The symptoms which do not represent any particular disease are cast away by modern medicines as useless and the patient is often dubbed a mental case. But when there is progress of the disease and gross pathological changes develop then the patient is labeled as incurable.
For instance. Take a patient x.
Very intelligent bur irritable and dominating.
Ambitious and nervous.
Tense and anxious.
He develops indigestion.
Gas in the stomach.
Stomach feels full even on eating little.
Cannot wear tight cloths especially a belt.
He is constipated.
He has to pass urine frequently.
He wants hot food and drinks.
He complains of sexual weakness.
This is the stage where symptoms are functional. No pathological changes have taken place. All investigations are normal. In modern medicine he may be given a laxative and a tranquilizer. There is no specific diagnosis. No specific treatment can be given.
After few years the patient develops burning in the stomach. He develops a gnawing pain in the stomach and wakes at night feeling hungry. He has burning eructation. His constipation becomes more severe .He becomes impotent. He starts passing red sand in the urine.
Now fresh investigation is done which shows that the patient has developed peptic ulcer and stones in the kidney. He is advised surgery. Modern medicine is unable to stop disease progress in the function level because it cannot utilize the significance of symptoms.
Dr Kent asserts rather sarcastically. The old school must know pathology before they can treat disease. and they must have post mortem before they can know pathology.
Homeopathy bases its treatment on symptoms. Thus it cannot only treat diseases where structural changes have developed, but can also arrest the disease at the functional stage. The medicine LYCOPODIUM if given to the above patient will in all probability cure him. But the same medicine when given in initional stages would have arrested the progress of the disease.
(The medicine covers the mental symptoms as well as the stomach and the urinary symptoms described in the case).

This is just a forum. Assume posts are not from medical professionals.
Sir, but 'RS' in his book,'Spirit of Homeopathy' has stated that Lycopodium has lack of self-confidence.
