Please help- chemically damaged hair and bad cut - hair thinning - getting worse!!

I'm only 33 years old with two beautiful boys and a wonderful husband. Just a year ago, I had long naturally curly hair that was a little frizzy and troublesome, but looked good when styled or pulled up. I went through a year of thinking I wanted a change, so getting highlights and a permanent straightener on my baby fine naturally curly hair. This ruined it. It's now so soft it won't hold a styled, and a stylist said I would have to chop most of the damage off so he cut it in this ghastly chopped up layered do that was short. The sides and top were shorter than the back, so I got about 20 extensions put in the sides while it grows out. Because of the straightener, though, my hair is now mostly wavy with curly root on the top of my head (the short part), and I cry and am depressed all the time. I've tried just about everything to get it to grow and get it healthier and to no avail. It seems to get worse each day. My tubes are tied and I've had my hormones tested and thyroid tested. They were normal. I also have been to dermatologists who said it's chemical hair loss/damage and that only time would remedy it. But, there have GOT to be some things I could be taking internally to help speed up this gruesome process. I got off birth control - it was to regulate my periods that have always been abnormal, but I don't see the point in taking birth control when my tubes are tied and all they do is make me gain weight. PLEASE give advice.

Main suffering: thinning hair and it's in chopped up layers and breaks easily

how long: It's always been thin and broke easily but never this bad - started this bad about one year ago

I am VERY depressed, moody, anxious due to my hair.

It all started June of last year when I had a bad highlight job and continued with a bad straightener, etc.

My kid add to my stress. Rain, humidity, and wind add to it and make me cry.

I feel better during a dry, sunny day with little humidity.

I crave salty foods like chips, pizza, and diet cokes (caffeine free ones). I'm not much of a sweet eater except once a month or so. Sometimes, I crave wine.

Thirst is normal

Hunger is excessive some days but absent others

Bowel movements usually occur at least once a day. Some nights I get constipated with bad gas cramps and it leads into loose stools.

I toss and turn and dream about my hair - what people say about it what can I do to get it to grow back, etc.

Just depression because of my hair

I used to be on birth control but got off of it in January of this year because my tubes were tied 3 years ago and I don't see the point in taking it just to regulate my periods (which have always been irregular - probably due to my high stress level). Plus, birth control makes me gain weight. I've had my hormones tested and my thyroid tested, and they were normal.

I am 5'3' and about 130 lbs. I'm overall small, but larger around the middle section.

My periods have always been irregular. I will get moody and bloated feeling each month like I'm about to start though, but usually don't bleed for about 2 months, sometimes 3 months between cycles. I bleed for about 5 to 7 days, and it's a little heavy at first, but tapers off.

My grandmother died of ovarian cancer. My aunt had colon cancer. I've had an ultrasound done to see if I had any ovarian cysts. I had a colon scope done about 6 years ago and it was normal.

PLEASE help me grow my naturally curly hair back in. I'm so sad!!

Oh, I forgot to add, I'm female, 33 years old, I'm a therapist and I work in nursing homes. I also have two small boys. We built a house 2 years ago, which was very stressful. Once we got in our new house, last year, I thought I wanted a hair change, so started highlighting and eventually got blond, and then started straightening with a chemical straightener that ate my hair up. Then, I got it wacked all off, and it just won't grow back! It's been almost a year (since last June) and I maybe have 3 inches of growth if that much).
