causticum or spongia for cough in 7 year old?

I posted a few days ago for a cold in my son. It is gone after giving lycodium (spelling?) but he now has a barking loud kind of deep cough. After researching, I am on my way to the pharmacy for causticum and spongia. I am not sure which one to give or if either one is good. Dry air makes it worse and open warm air makes it much better. It is a dry cough. If any congestion it is white or clear. He complains it hurts his throat to cough. Please help, he needs something and I am not sure what to give. If I don't find something my husband will insist on medicine!
Thanks! Jennifer

This is just a forum. Assume posts are not from medical professionals.
spongia cough is dry.

Causticum cough gets ameliorated wit a sip of cold water.
