Extract from the Forum:-

'Really high potencies, such as 200C, are normally taken in very low doses (typically once per week) whereas lower potencies are taken every few hours for a few days. It is generally considered to be a bad idea to take high potencies often.

Extract from Mr. Murhy's advice:-

'The often heard view, that stands to logic is this.

'Go as high as you can, in case you are hundred percent sure of the remedy, and if the remedy is covering ALL the prominent symptoms of the patient, and if there are no CONTRA INDICATIONS.This is applicable to both acute and chronic cases.

'If you are unsure about a remedy, or if the remedy seems to be indicated partially only, go for lower potencies.

Give a test dose first, assess the reaction of the patient'

(In case the test dose gives relief then wait for its action to complete.)

Every Medicine has its duration to work. There may be some minor variations in the recordings but by and large it is alright.

I am in agreement to the extent as extracted, suggested and incorporated above.

let me add something more here,

- higher is the intensity of suffering, more frequent is the dose.

- physical sufferings need frequent dosage in low and medium potencies.

- mental ailments need high potencies in less frequent doses.

- old men and babies need lower potencies for the same action.

- deep rooted and chronic ailments need high potencies for a long time in infrequent intervals.

but above all, its the remedy which tells you what potency will work on a certain disease in general.

the above concepts are emperical and are followed on most of the remedies. but many remedies need repetition very frequently than others..

moreover, some remedies dont create a response in lower potencies.

its eventually experience in dealing with remedies and noting responses of patients which makes a homeopath more confident on the usage of the different remedies.
