Acute eye sensitivity to rape pollen

Last year I had terrible eye problems due to rape pollen.
On occasions I would feel the area all around my eyes start to prickle and itch and become very unconfortable. My upper lids would swell and become very red, lined and droopy. I even had to take off work.
I am DESPERATE to avoid this happening this year and would like some advice as to what I can take. Please help!
