many madicines given to a 2 yr old Page 3 of 11

This is just a forum. Assume posts are not from medical professionals.
John,
It is hard to avoid milk as that is the only drink he drinks beside water. Why do you think egg too should be avoided?

Magicure,
How will I know if Calcarea is the correct constitutional remedy of my son?
And if it is when and how much should I give him?

kumghi 2 decades ago
When I was giving all the 4 medicines homeopath gave my son got better so quickly which I had never experienced with Allopathic meds. His appetite also had increased.

Homeopath had suggested me to give him those all 4 meds for 1 month and follow up.

But after I joined this Forum I stopped giving all meds but Calc Carb ...he got cold/cough again. Please forgive me here but I am so much confused because atleast those meds had done magic for my son.

Please don't take it otherwise, this is just a confused mom and very new to Homeopathy. Please help me understand here.

Hi,
I understand your state of mind.
The problem in giving 4 medicines at a time is , we dont even know which of those 4 was doing a great job for your child .
Also , giving more than single remedy at a time is anti-homoeopathy.
I know that you are more interested in getting results than sticking to these fundamentals of science.
Calcarea if is the correct remedy for your son, you should get positive results like increase in appetite and improved immunity, with less frequent colds.
I shall go through the case again , and get back to you.
Regards..

Hi,

I went through the case again.
To decide the Constitutional remedy , you need to answer a few more questions.
These questions are regarding his "symptom free" or "healthy state", not during his acute cold/ fever complaints.

1.Thermal State:
does he generally like to be wrapped/ covered, or he is comfortable in cold weather?
2.Sweat:
Only on head? how much(does it wet the pillow?) when(day/ night?) offensive?(if yes, smells like what?)
3.Vaccinations:
Is he immunised? any reaction? any change in health noted after that?
4.Appetite:
Does he eat LESS , or you have to FORCE him to eat but he eats good quantity of food? How is his bowel habit? Intolleranc to any food? vomitting/ constipation after any food?
5.Mile stones: teething, walking, talking etc on time?
6.Mood:
How active is he? How much comfortable with strangers? cranky/ smiley?
7.Sleep:
does he sleep properly? teeth grinding? gets up / startles during sleep?
8.Physical appearance:
Skin? eyes? eye lashes? nails? palms(hot/cold/dry/sweaty...)
built? tongue?(coating?)

Thank you very much magicure for giving so much time for my son's case and clearing things for me. I really appreciate your effort.

My answers for your questions:

1. Thermal State: He does not like to be wrapped. At night he keeps throwing his blanket away and I have to cover him back.
2. Sweat: Yes sweats only on head, while sleeping, night and day both, no smell at all. In summer pilow gets wet. During winter too sometimes pilow gets wet.
3. Vaccinations: Yes he is immunised (all the basic ones are covered), no reaction, didn't notice any changes
4. Appetite: He eats less even for that I have to force him. He simply hates to eat. No intollerance to any food, bowel movement everyday,
no vomitting/ no constipation after any food.
5. Mile stones: Very fast in every thing except for walking. He walked just before he was 1. He had already started walking when he was 8-9 months old but he got very sick (same cold cough) so walking got delayed. Still that is not bad I think.
He is very intelligent for his age, very good memory, it's not only me saying everyone who has met him says the same thing.
6. Mood: He is very active and alert, likes guests a lot. Used to take about 5 minutes to be comfortable with strangers(the habit of being comfortable with stranger is changing a bit now, he gets little sigh currently but still ok). He is smiley most of the time, laughs very loud and likes others laughing.
7. Sleep: Sleep is proper most of the time sometimes he gets disturbed sleep. Teeth grinding sometimes when he is awake not while sleeping. Sometimes gets up, seems like he had a nightmare.
8.Physical appearance: Skin, eyes, eye lashes (I don't know what do you want to know? colour?) They look normal. Nails don't have any white spots on, good pink colour. Normal palms. Built lean and thin. no coating in tounge sometimes little whitish coating (thought that was because of milk)

Please let me know if you have further questions.

Hello,
How is his skin? healthy? Smallest injury heals properly / suppurates?
What is the state of his fontanelles?
How are his eye lashes? ( very long/ short)
Any problem at the time of teething? (fever/ gastric disturbances...)
Palms sweaty/ dry ?
Is his weight appropriate for his age?
Any problems during pregnancy/ delivery ? Breast fed? any prob?
These questions are important in the correct choice of the constitutional.
Any additional info about your child would be of great help.

magicure 2 decades ago
His skin is healthy.
Everything is fine normal. No problem while teething.
Palms are not sweaty.
His weight right now is 29 lbs which is below his growth chart because he was born healthy (8 lbs 12 ozs).
Height is above his growth chart.

There were absolutely no problem during pregnancy/ delivery.
Breast fed until he was 11 months.

I can say in short that he is just not eating well, has no other known problem.

He gets really very angry at times. Shouts and shivers and grinds his teeth if refrained from doing something he really wanted to do. Otherwise he is very happy boy, smiling all the time.

If you ask me what he likes to eat, I cannot even name 1 item. Because if he liked something today and ate nicely he may not like the same again. So till date I don't know what he likes. Oh ya he likes French Fries, tho it's not a good choice but sometimes I feel atleast there is something to offer him.

Okay ,
I shall repertorise the case , and will get back to you in a day or two.
No medicines till then.
Dont worry , homoeopathy can sure help him.

Thank You very much magicure.
I will wait for your response.

"Repertorise," I am sure that mothers new to homeopathy really puzzle over the unknown words.

We are here to help and allay the stress of the mother with a sick baby, not to speak in doctor terms to show superiority of knowledge.

I was always taught to speak in the student's language so that they may learn more easily.

After all, aren't we trying to spread homeopathy so that families can become more independent without having to run to a doctor and hand over their baby as if they are mentally lacking???

I am sure each of us has been in a similar situation of feeling helpless and others speaking the words of which we had no knowledge.

Sincerely, Sabra

Hi Kumghi,

I hope you understood that by the word "repertorise" I just wanted to convey , that I am working on the case. There was absolutely no other intention of using that word.

Hi,
A question:
Fear of many things: could you please specify? ( animals/ insects/ dark/ being alone/ loud noises etc...)

magicure 2 decades ago
He is scared of loud(strange) noises, going near big animals, scary masks etc.

kumghi 2 decades ago
Sounds pretty average for a two year old. Did or does he have any nightmares or fears of the dark??? Sabra

sabra 2 decades ago
No he has no fears of dark.
Recently once or twice he got up crying and seemed to have nightmare, I am not sure if it was nightmare though.

We assume that persons asking help on this forum are inteligent enough to understand that we are all trying to help them.

If they are unfamiliar with certain words, they sure willl learn.

Snapshot prescriptions are not possible all the time, and there is a thinking process involved before coming to the right decision.Repertorisation is a great help in arraiving at a handful remedies to suit the patient's condition, and zero in on a most suitable remedy.

Pl.don't browbeat new prescribers. They too want to help. They have their own methods.

My son is having fever along with cold cough right now. Fever is 101 degree F. The homeopath we had been to before had given him the following remedy for fever:

Remedy : R1
15 drops in a tea spoon of water
3-4 times a day
3-5 days

Should I give him same or should I wait. Condition is not severe, he's just hot, all his body and head. Cough is only when he sleeps. There is no runny nose, there is something which is bothering him but it is not coming out. (Blocked nose).
Thank you all for your continuous support.

kumghi 2 decades ago
Murthy, are you reprimanding me again? Sabra

sabra 2 decades ago
We have no idea what R1 is, because this is most probably the doctor's own code of what he gave. They really hate for anyone to know what was given. You may become independent.

He keeps sounding like CARBO VEG to me. Get what you can and give three doses, one each hour, and then wait over night. Maybe one dose the next day. If better, do not give more. Please keep us posted. Blessings, Sabra

Murthy, Magicure seemed to understand what I said. If he took offence, he didn't say or I would have apologized myself. (don't know if you are a guy, magicure, sorry)

I am beginning to feel monitored by the moderator for being bad.

Please remember that words between others do not need to be "corrected" by another.

Those involved must resolve any difficulty themselves.

I speak in statements not accusations. I am used to teaching and if it shows, I am sorry. Regards, Sabra

Hey Kumghi,

Sorry to know that your son is suffering from cold and cough again.
How did he catch it? Some visitor with a viral infection again? or exposure to cold weather? or what?
The symptoms are not sufficient enough to suggest a remedy, you have to be more descriptive ( all those questions you answered at the time of last ACUTE attack... sorry , but there are no short cuts in homoeopathy... You have to consider ALL the symptoms for a correct prescription.

Dont give R1 or call and ask the doctor what he means by R1.

Could you please narrate his details ? If he has high fever with red hot face and chills he might need Belladonna.
If he has tough stringy discharges from nose difficult to blow , he might need Kali bich.
Hepar could play a role if the cold with runny nose earlier has now become congested and has yellowish green discharges.
Could you please give a complete picture? ( please refer to the questions we had considered during last episode) So that we can work things out.

Regards...

magicure 2 decades ago
Hi Magicure, I though for sure it was Belladonna until I saw the child won't be covered and sweats. Not a red face.

When he coughs and vomits I felt it is Carbo veg. (sweaty) If he actually was having an asthma attack and coughs and vomits it would be Ipecacuanha.

I have been studying for days on sweaty child and must be uncovered. Little or no fever. I am at a loss and would most appreciate any feed back between all concerned. Thanks, Sabra

Sabra

Your suggestion that each person can defend himself, and a third peson need not interfere is really worth practicing.

I too feel I am unnecessarily interfering sometimes, and I will try to be more patient.

Thanks for the advice. No hard feelings.I respect you.

Hi Murthy,

Thanks a lot for all your support. It sure helps. I really appreciate it.

sabra,
I usually avoid getting into unfruitful discussions. Your comment really was unpleasant but I chose to ignore it.

magicure 2 decades ago
Sabra,

Turning to the case now,

I feel that Kumghi has provided only 2-3 definite symptoms:
1. Hot head and body
2. Cough during sleep
3. Blocked nose / difficulty in blowing ?

She has not mentioned anything about vomitting/ sweat/ needs covering or not....
We cant prescribe ANYTHING on the available information.

Kumghi,
What is the current state of your son?
Please keep us posted.

Regards...
