Treament for styes

My husband seems to be getting new styes way too often. He had one that is now on his left eye for the last 4 or 5 months. It seems to be drying up at this point but now he is getting one on his right eye. I'm wondering just why he is getting them and maybe it is something more then just a stye and also what safe treatment he can use. Any thoughts on this would be greatly appreciated.

The styes have been on his lower lids.
