chronic cough with vomitting and post nasal drip

Hi, my 7 year old daughter and I, 41, have been suffering with a cough for over 3 weeks now. Here are the basic details

cough-hard, forceful, non productive, feels like there is mucus to be coughed up but unable to get it out. Occasionally cough so hard that we vomit. I have personally coughed so hard I couldn't breath between coughing.

We both have drainage that seems 'stuck' in our throat but we can't get it out either through coughing, nose blowing, clearing throat.

My daughter will cough when caused to be upset/cry and end up coughing/vomitting.

Cough is worse at night, generally after midnight.

Onset began with mild fever (99-100 F) and some chills

We have tried astha aid and tussi kind as recommended by our pediatrician as well as boiron's chestal. Recently added phos, sulph, lachesis, beladonna, and pulsatilla while eliminating the cough remedies. Also started english ivy.

Any suggestions would be very much appreciated. If you need more information, please let me know.

Thank you!

please try Ipecac-30 (3 drops per dose thrice a day) for 2/3 days and report.

Should I continue with any of the other homeopathics or herbals while using the Ipecac? Can I take the Ipecac in pill form instead of drops. Is the dose the same for me-41 and my daughter-7. I am going to try to get the Ipecac today so I can start it today.

Also, re: symptoms. I find, at least for myself, that breathing in and/or yawning can trigger the cough. Does this make a difference?

We have tried the ipecac now for 3-4 days. The drainage seems to be a little better but my daughter coughed with vomitting again on Wednesday. We returned to our pediatrician and she recommended byronia alba 30 4 globules 3 times daily. She does want us to continue with the ipecac and also added in some munostim. She heard crackling in her chest and had xrays done with nothing showing up.

I went to my d.o. today with the results of bronchitis caused asthma. I am reluctant to take the anti-biotics as I don't feel this is necessary. I don't see this as being caused by a bacterial infection. I am also leary of taking the advair that was prescribed. However, less so as I am short of breath, and, as our pediatrician said, 'you sound tight, but not crackly'. It is difficult for me to get a good deep breath as well as the feeling, when I do so, that I am going to start coughing. More so at night. If there are any suggestions that would help with the tightness/constrited breathing that would be appreciated.
