Essential/familial tremor help?

I'm a 22 year old man who has been suffering with familial tremor for about 6 years (there are a few family members taking inderal for this - nobody in my nuclear family though).

My symptoms include uncontrollable rhythmic tremoring whenever I try to preform a task, high anxiety, and in the past depression. I've been treated with inderal (propranolol), and a host of things for depression and anxiety. I had found limited success for depression and anxiety with some medications (side effects always keeping me away).

The tremor seems to get worse with caffeine (so I abstain), chamomile tea, regular yoga/meditation, and daily exercise help to some degree.

I'm very much introverted (a good deal because of the tremor and anxiety), and don't do well in casual conversations. I am a pious Catholic, and in a loving family, and don't have any major health concerns.

The reason I write this is I'm running out of options. I'm getting ready to go away to college and would like an alternative to inderal (which I haven't taken now in probably 2 months). It feels wrong to just accept the limited success it offers for the rest of my life. I don't like how it makes me feel, and the tremor is hardly lessoned anyhow. I know it will limit me socially if I'm not able to treat it though, it already has where I am now.

So far for holistically treating my tremor I've tried: magnesium supplements, B-100, yoga, daily exercise, various teas...

1. Describe your main suffering?

Tremoring in my arms, legs, fingers, head, voice...

2. What other physical sufferings do you have in your body?

varicocele, epididymitis, anxiety, depression...

3. What mental sufferings / feelings do you have associated with your physical sufferings?

Insecurity, embarrassment, frustration

4. What exactly do you feel when you are at your worst? Describe the sensation in your own words.

Extreme frustration that I can't control the tremor, especially when it affects a task I'm trying to preform (getting a spoon from the food to my mouth). Also, when I'm in situations with people - handing money to a store clerk I always tremble worse.

5. When did it all start? Can you connect it to any past event or disease?

I remember it starting in highschool, I had to stand face to face with someone and sketch each other in art class. I got paired with a pretty girl and my head started trembling and I was humiliated.

6. Which time of the day you are worst?

Possibly morning (before my yoga, and while I'm anticipating the day). I don't think the tremor changes much throughout the day, but I have butterflies early in the morning when I am anticipating a phone call, or trip to the store/doctor/library...

7. What are the things which aggravate your suffering and which are those which ameliorate the same? Example- time, temperature, pressure, rubbing, washing, eating, tight clothing etc.

Caffeine, and social situations seem to worsen the tremor.

Yoga, chamomile tea, and daily exercise help to some degree.

8. Do your think your sufferings have relation to any external stimuli (like, change of place) or any internal biological changes in the body, like, menses (in females)?

9. When do you feel better, during hot weather or cold weather, humid or dry weather?

Warm weather (cold weather seems to encourage tremor/shivers)

10. Describe your general mental set up? Are you Moody, Arrogant, Mild, Agreeable Changeable, Nervous, Suspicious, Easily offended, Quiet, Arguing, Irritating, Lazy etc.

High strung, quiet, generally agreeable.

- How do you feel before or during a thunderstorm?

I've never noticed

- Do you like being consoled during your tough times?

No, I prefer to work things out on my own, though I do occasionally talk to a priest about things.

- Are you sensitive to external stimuli like smell, noise, light etc?

I don't think so

- Do you have any typical habit or gesture like nail biting, causeless
Weeping, talking to one self etc?

I have little nervous habits, nothing very obvious or unusual though.

- How do you feel about your friends, family, your children and especially your husband / wife?

I love my family (I live at home), and I don't really have any good friends. I spend most time doing homework or being with the family.

11. What are your fears and do you dream of any situation repeatedly?

I fear not getting over this, and ending up an old lonely shaky person.

12. What do you crave for in food items and what are your aversions?

I find it hard to eat in the morning (or when in a group of people) because of anxiety, but I force myself to eat breakfast every morning.

13. How is your thirst: Less, Normal or Excessive?

normal

14. How is your hunger: Less, Normal or Excessive?

Maybe a bit less than it should be.

15. Is there any kind of food which your body can’t stand?

Not that I know of

16. Is your sweat normal or less or more? Where does it sweat more: Head, Trunk or Limbs?

sweat seems normal

17. How is your bowel movement and stool type?

fine

18. How well do you sleep? Do you have a particular posture of sleeping?

some nights are hard to get to sleep because of racing thoughts, I generally sleep on one of my sides.

19. Do you think you are able to satisfy your sexual desires in general?

I'm celibate

20. Do you have any strange, peculiar or unusual symptom or feelings? How are you different from others?

I've done a lot of psychedelics in the past 2 years (though not in the past 3/4 months) including daily marijuana use, LSD, mushrooms, DMT. Also, some periods of regular opiate use.

I'm very much inside my own head, I feel very strongly about activism and peace, and I try to live as simply and sustainably as possible (I wear used clothes, and try not to support sweat shops or big business like walmart).

21. What medications have been taken earlier by you to treat the diseases and do you have any particular symptom surfacing after the medication?

I've taken inderal, but stopped because I felt the tremors were 5x worse when I missed a dose, and I didnt want to become dependent. Also, psychologically I felt off, and not myself. I suppose I'll go back to it if I cannot find anything else to work though, I need some sort of relief.

22. What major diseases are running in your family?

depression, anxiety, essential tremors all run in the family (a few suicides, panic attacks, and medicated essential tremor in family history)

23. Describe, how do you look like? Describe your overall appearance.
(For Females)

I'm not female, but I'll just note that I'm not obese. Slightly on the thin side.
