Child Sleepwalking
My 6 year old son has begun sleepwalking. This has happened 3-4 times in the past 4 months. He is always very upset and somewhat frantic as he roams around the house. I have read an article that a large percentage of children that sleepwalk have breathing difficulties while sleeping. My son was diagnosed with enlarged adenoids when he was 3. I treated him with Bacillinum 200 and Agraphis Nutans 3x when he was 4 with success. He does have breathing problems when he has a cold or his allergies get bad. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thank you.zingara on 2008-12-24
This is just a forum. Assume posts are not from medical professionals.
-He's 6 years old and weighs around 40 lbs.
-Has allergies (animal, dust, pollens)mostly kept under control by saline nasal spray and cleanliness.
-Very sensitive emotionally.
-Usually wants to sleep with my husband and I. Doesn't like to sleep alone. Anxious about going to sleep (complains that his eyes hurt or he has a headache,or tummy hurts etc...)even though we have a set routine we go through every night. Doesn't like it if we stray from bedtime routine at all, unless we allow him to go to bed with us. Will usually fall asleep within 30 minutes in his own bed but will wake during the night and slip into our bed most of the time. Sleeps approximately 11 hours a night. Has always been a restless sleeper. Has always talked in his sleep, even when he was very small.
- Was sleeping in his own bed during each sleepwalking episode. He will wake me with his crying or calling out. He is always distressed, but can't tell me why, and is frantically moving about the house like he is looking for something. He is mostly incoherent during this time. It usually last less than 5 minutes or so and I will have to physically hold him or lay down with him to calm him down enough to go back to sleep. He never remembers anything the next morning and usually insists it didn't happen. I do think he was sick twice when this happened.
-Will not wake up to use the restroom during the night.
I hope this helps. Thank you.
