Is it possible to figure out constitutional remedy for 16 month old baby
I have a 16 month old little boy and really want to figure out his constitutional remedy. What traits would I need to know in order to do this?moonchiald on 2009-03-30
This is just a forum. Assume posts are not from medical professionals.
I meant to put this in the first post but hit enter too soon.
At birth he was 9 pounds. Wide eyed and wide awake. No unfocused moments for him. I have heard him described by strangers as 'SO alert' and an 'old soul' so many times.
He doesn't sleep well and never has. He wakes frequently but will go back to sleep fairly easily at night but in the day as soon as he wakes, then he is awake even if he didn't sleep long enough.
He is still breastfed and has little interest in food. Most days the only thing he will eat is some banana.
He does not play well alone and is very very attached to me.
He sleeps on his belly and sometimes with his face in the mattress. Sometimes he sleeps with his butt in the air but usually just spread out on his tummy.
He has lots of hair. It was jet black at birth but that has fallen out and he now has med brown hair with blonde tints. Big dark brown eyes and fair, pink skin. He is tall and thin. Others describe him as tiny. He is on the lower end of the growth chart now but has a bigger than normal head. It doesn't look too big at all but the charts say it is in the 95%.
He doesn't laugh out loud very often and when he does, it has to be something really funny to him. He chatters at home but when we are out and there is anything to get his attention he is very quite and takes it all in. He tends to be shy of strangers but will usually give them a small smile if they are talking to him.
He has a large vocabulary for his age and is very opinionated and is getting quite a temper. If you can't figure out what he is telling you right away or if something he is trying to do doesn't work well, he gets very frustrated very easily.
He doesn't cuddle much and always wants to be moving and doing. He loves to be outside and will run and run without stopping for a long time. He doesn't really know when to shut things down if he starts getting tired. I have to watch him closely for nap times and for rest times.
He doesn't drink a lot beside breastmilk and won't accept anything else except water. If I try to put a touch of juice in it, he rejects it.
He has had 2 very minor colds in his life and is very healthy.
The only concern at this point, healthwise, is that his left ear overproduces wax. I took him to the ENT and there was so much wax packed in there that they couldn't see his eardrum. It took quite a bit to get it clean. The wax that comes from that ear is either dark yellow/organge and firm (like a kernal of rice) or whitish and sticky.
He did have a blocked tear duct for a few weeks after birth. It used to put out a yellowish thick secretion but resolved fairly quickly.
He has never been vaccinated or on any medications. I take a bioidentical form of thyroid medication but it is a small dose. I use powdered superfood mix for my vitamin supplement but do not give anything to him.

No change so far. It hasn't been a full 2 weeks yet. I will report back in 5 days.
Do you have an idea of what his constitutional remedy is?
Thanks!

How's your son doing now? When you report tell if there has been any subtle change in energy, sleep, emotional state, behavioral pattern.
Can you also elaborate on the diseases running in the family?
What have the remedies been given until now and how he responded to them?
' He is on the lower end of the growth chart now but has a bigger than normal head. It doesn't look too big at all but the charts say it is in the 95%.' Can you also elaborate more on this quote from your second post?
Sometime ago, seems he was pulsatilla child but now he may require some other remedy. But if you can talk in detail about the questions above and other relevant things we can zero-in on a remedy that can improve his overall state.

I haven't really seen any change in him in the past 2 weeks. Everything I wrote before about him, still applies.
I am slightly hypothyroid and I have migraines from time to time but that is really the only diseases. We are quite healthy. Nothing I can think of in the Grandparent, either. Although, my father died when I was 8 so I can't really say much about him.
There has been alzheimers/dementia in a couple of the great-grandparents, and 2 lung cancers/high blood pressures from smoking in the great-grandparents, as well.
In the last 4 months I have occasionally given him chamomilia for teething and nothing since this dose of calc. phos.
The growth part of my post is referring to the growth percentile charts that the pediatricians use. When he was born he was in the top 5% in size, meaning only 5% of babies were larger than he is. Now he is in the 30% range meaning 70% of children his age is bigger than he is in both height and weight. His head circumference is still in the 95%, meaning only 5% of children his age have bigger heads.
I did give him pulsatilla, but there never seemed to be a constant improvement. There might be a glimmer of a change here and there but then things would go back to how they were before.
One thing that I don't think I posted before is that he usually has a bowel movement every 1-2 days. It depends on how much he nurses versus eating solid foods. It is usually soft but solid. The color ranges from light brown when he nurses more to dark green when he eats regular foods more.
He loves being outside and looking for birds, dogs, and bugs.
One day last week we were outside in the yard for about 15 minutes when we came in he had a red rash of bumps across his upper back. He seems to be sun sensitive like I am.
I can't really think of any other relevant things to post.
Thank you!

He has started having a really hard time going to sleep at night AND has started waking up totally wild at least once a night. He thrashes around and screams and nothing helps.
If I touch him or talk to him it makes it worse.
We really need help.
