Too much ear wax in toddler

I have a 16 month old little boy that is currently having a problem with his left ear. It is becoming impacted with ear wax and blocking the ear canal totally. The wax that comes out is either very firm and the size and shape of a piece of rice and dark orangy brown. The other type of wax that he is producing is a sticky whitish color.

I would also appreciate any insight into what his constitutional remedy would be.

Some info on him...

At birth he was 9 pounds. Wide eyed and wide awake. No unfocused moments for him. I have heard him described by strangers as 'SO alert' and an 'old soul' so many times.

He doesn't sleep well and never has. He wakes frequently but will go back to sleep fairly easily at night but in the day as soon as he wakes, then he is awake even if he didn't sleep long enough.

He is still breastfed and has little interest in food. Most days the only thing he will eat is some banana.

He does not play well alone and is very very attached to me.

He sleeps on his belly and sometimes with his face in the mattress. Sometimes he sleeps with his butt in the air but usually just spread out on his tummy.

He has lots of hair. It was jet black at birth but that has fallen out and he now has med brown hair with blonde tints. Big dark brown eyes and fair, pink skin. He is tall and thin. Others describe him as tiny. He is on the lower end of the growth chart now but has a bigger than normal head. It doesn't look too big at all but the charts say it is in the 95%.

He doesn't laugh out loud very often and when he does, it has to be something really funny to him. He chatters at home but when we are out and there is anything to get his attention he is very quite and takes it all in. He tends to be shy of strangers but will usually give them a small smile if they are talking to him.

He has a large vocabulary for his age and is very opinionated and is getting quite a temper. If you can't figure out what he is telling you right away or if something he is trying to do doesn't work well, he gets very frustrated very easily.

He doesn't cuddle much and always wants to be moving and doing. He loves to be outside and will run and run without stopping for a long time. He doesn't really know when to shut things down if he starts getting tired. I have to watch him closely for nap times and for rest times.

He doesn't drink a lot beside breastmilk and won't accept anything else except water. If I try to put a touch of juice in it, he rejects it.

He has had 2 very minor colds in his life and is very healthy.

He did have a blocked tear duct for a few weeks after birth. It used to put out a yellowish thick secretion but resolved fairly quickly.

He has never been vaccinated or on any medications. I take a bioidentical form of thyroid medication but it is a small dose. I use powdered superfood mix for my vitamin supplement but do not give anything to him.
