Carbuncle
My 17 yrs old son got a carbuncle on his left cheek. He skreched it twice and it has now aggravated. I gave him Hepar Sulph 200C twice daily (4 pills) for 3 days but no relief. The tip has become white and area around it hardened and purplish in color. It pains to touch. Please suggest remedy.Sunny2222 on 2005-01-25

Hepar Sulphur 200 was a wrong remedy. You need the lowest available potency of Hepar sulphur. Higer potency will delay the ripening of it.
If you can's find any potency lower then 30 then just give Belladonna-30 and Silica-30 till the head comes out and leakage takes place.
When one Carbuncle shows up it is just the indication of more may be coming. So once this erupts you continue with Heper Sulphur 30 for two weeks. Later on give just one dose of Heper-30 for couple of months.
If you are in India you buy a brandname herbal medicine Safi. One dose in one week is enough. You may find it in some Indian grocery stores in Western World.

Thanks pw. I am in India and know about Safi but such a thing happens to him once in 2-3 yrs. Today morning it burst open and got drained quite a bit. Swelling too has reduced. But the pus-wick is still inside, I think. When do I start Silicia. Will a single dose of 200C would be sufficient?

SILICEA should push out the puswick, or what we call the "head" also. One dose and then wait two weeks and see if the second dose is necessary. Do not give if it is clear and empty. If it heals over incorrectly, give the second dose.
Silicea can go both ways, it may drain, or just heal in some cases.
Be warned it may bring other "bumps" to the surface, but it is short lived.
