Left incipient inguinal hernia with mild prostatomegalyI am a 69- year old retired man living with my wife and a German Shepherd dog at Agra. I have a son and a daughter who live in Bangalore and Ahmedabad respectively.
I have recently been diagnosed for Left incipient inguinal hernia with mild prostatomegaly. I am a hypertension patient with a tendency to high cholesterol. These problems are under control with the help of medicines like S-Numlo 5 and Zevit. Of late I have started having some constipation too. A feeling of despondency, helplessness and melancholy is slowly taking its sway on me. I am losing interest in socializing. I am going back deep into my shell. It may perhaps be pertinent to mention that these ailments are probably the direct result of my giving up Yoga which I had been doing for the last ten years. I had to give it up following cataract surgery on my right eye and subsequent retinal haemorrhage about three years back.
For the last about 4-5 months, I have been feeling occasional mild pain and irritation on my left groin. I ignored it thinking that it was only a gastric problem due to constipation. But in February this year, I had this pain again and I consulted my family physician. He seemed to agree with me but to be sure he advised me to get an ultrasound done. The ultrasound report revealed (1) BPH grade III, (2) Slightly increased renal parenchymal reflectivity to be regarded as earliest changes of bilateral renal parenchymal disease (3) Right renal cortical cyst and (4) Post void residue= 50 ml. My physician asked me several questions which did not lead him to accept the ultrasound report findings in toto. He recommended (1) Blood Urea, (2) Blood Sugar (PP), (3) Creatinine, (4) SPSA, and (5) Urine complete tests. These tests revealed nothing abnormal. My blood urea was 26.2, creatinine 0.89 and SPSA 0.241.
My physician referred me to a Uro Surgeon. The Uro Surgeon examined me thoroughly and conducted his own on the spot ultrasound on the basis of which he diagnosed me for a left incipient inguinal hernia and mild prostatomegaly. He told me that in allopathy, surgery (either open surgery or Laparoscopic surgery) is the only treatment which is not required in my case now since the disease had just begun. He could not say for certain when it will be a fit case for surgery. He prescribed a Urimax-F capsule daily for a month and advised me to see him thereafter. Last month when I visited him again he asked me about my condition. I told him that the pain and irritation still persisted on my left groin. He examined me through his ultrasound machine and advised me (probably reluctantly) to undergo a small surgery if I am unable to bear the pain. For this purpose he advised my ECG and ultrasound of left inguinal area. The ultrasound conducted on April 6, 2009 reveals that (1) Abdominal contents are seen herniating into left inguinal canal on raising the intra-abdominal pressure (2) Bilateral renal parenchymal disease (early changes) and (3) Left inguinal hernia. I have not taken ECG.
To be very frank I am not mentally prepared to undergo surgery and its likely complications later, if any. I have started taking homoeopathic treatment. The medicines which have been prescribed are (1) Bryonia 30 CH, (2) Calcarea Flour. 30 CH (in rotation after every three hours) (3) Hydrastis Can. 30 CH (4) Iris Ver. 30 CH twice after meals and (5 Sabal Serrulata (15 drops thrice daily). Though there seems to be some relief in pain but the discomfort occasionally occurs. There is improvement in prostate problem. As on Feb.10, 2009 it measured 51x50x48 mm weighing approximately 65 gs. However, on April 6, 2009 it measured 36x35x27 mm weighing approximately 18 gs.
I seek your expert opinion whether there is a cure of my ailment without surgery in homeopathy and if so the present homoeopathic treatment is alright? If not, what treatment do you suggest with full Dos and Donts? I have been prohibited from lifting heavy things and climbing the terrace of my house on 2nd floor where I used to play with my dog. Will pulling and dragging me by my dog harm me during our morning walk? Due to pain my morning walk has been reduced to half.
I need your valuable guidance, advice and support in the matter.

Many thanks for your prompt response.
From my side I have tried to mention all possible details.
I have been a very social person, marketing management and human resource development being my specialisation. As a consultant and trainer, I had a very hectic life before my retirement. I have no activity virtually now for the last many years.
That's all I can add further.
