The ABC Homeopathy Forum

lm prescribing

I am taking Silica as an LM potency. The homeopath said to dilute 1 teaspoon of the stock solution in 1/4 cup distilled water each morning, take a teaspoon of this diluted mixture twice a day, and then toss out the diluted remedy.

Can anyone tell me why I couldn't just continue to use the diluted remedy until it is gone, rather than throwing it out and starting anew each morning? Wouldn't that be more economical?!

Also, she said to refrigerate the stock, but not necessarily the diluted remedy. Wouldn't the vibration of the fridge knock-out the remedy? I'm confused...

Thanks in advance for responding.

This is just a forum. Assume posts are not from medical professionals.
If you are working with a homeopath, he/she should be asked directly the whys and especially why so many doses.

I have never heard of discarding the liquid as it doesn't change overnight and it also takes more than a week to become suspect without rif.

Sabra,

Unfortunately, the homeopath is a friend and she's being very secretive about the process.

Could it be that by throwing out the remedy after 24 hours one paces it's use, and thus we thus know when to progress to the next level?

Thanks so much for responding.

It is called a split dose method, and the 1/4 cup is the first cup dilution she has prescribed to you from the stock solution (bottle you take it from). It is common practice to throw the dilution out after the day.

If you are pounding (succussing) the bottle before taking the tsp from the stock bottle, you are gently increasing the potency with each dose you take out of the stock bottle.

Hope this helps!

The refrigeration is in leiu of alcohol as a preservative. With alcohol, no need to refrigerate, unless in humid/hot environment. The refrig will not knock out the remedy or increase the potency...need a hard pound for that.

Loree,

Thanks so much for responding. Your comments clarify some aspects of this treatment that have been troubling me, so I'm very grateful.

I do sucuss the bottle before drawing off the 1 tsp. to put in the 1/4 c. water, and do actually recognize the gradually increasing potency, now that you bring this effect to my attention.

The homeopath always adds a small capful of vodka to the stock bottle, yet also recommends refridgeration. I guess she's just covering her bases, huh?

Can you think of any reason why one *shouldn't* continue to use the diluted 1/4c. until it's gone, rather than simply throwing it out after 24 hours? Do you know why this common practice has developed?

Again, my thanks.

hi
For the LM potency it is been usually done to discard the left solution. It is only done for the LM potency

Hi there,

Glad to be of help. Do you live in a hot humid environment? many people would also refrigerate if the remedy is used infrequently.

As to the question: "Can you think of any reason why one *shouldn't* continue to use the diluted 1/4c. until it's gone, rather than simply throwing it out after 24 hours?"

That is because with every succussion to the stock bottle, you are gently increasing the potency, so if you used the same dilution cup, you would be getting the same dose which is not wanted, as the remedy works better with altered doses, thus it is doing this gradually by a new succussion each day, etc and new tsp of an altered (higher) dose into the dilution cup.

Hope that helps!

Loree,

Thank you! That is just the kind of reply I was looking for!

So, I will continue to succuss the bottle daily, and to throw out what left after each 24 hours.

I am very grateful to you for explaining this to me.

Warm regards,
Sasha

Loree -- or anyone!,

Can you tell me how I'd know if this remedy has had it's way with me and I'm now ready to progress to a different one? (Remember that I'm taking LM potencies...)

Thanks much for your input.

Sasha,

As you have a Homeopath, it is very important to let her guide you in your case!
