Horse with a variety of skin problems
I have a 9 year old mare who has suffered from a variety of skin problems since we've had her aged 3. Over recent months they have got much worse.The most severe problem is that of sarcoids (a type of skin cancer) primarily around her teats, with one on her stomach under her girth area. She had them before but they dropped off shortly after she had a foal (the problem is often worse when she is in foal). She now has several the size of my fist, they are bleeding and quite pussy looking, and a number of smaller ones starting to grow round her teats. She is not unduly worried by them (I am!).
She also has mud fever on both her back legs, one of which has now become infected and I have found swollen today to twice its usual size. She is not stood in any mud (I understand that this is a bacterial infection and not linked to mud), she is kept out at grass with two other horses with whom she gets on well, has permanent access to shelter, water etc, and has not been ridden or under undue stress for at least four and a half years.
Since I've had her she has a hock (the left, I think) which routinely swells
when she trots/canters - she is never lame on it.
I have a feeling that something is very adrift with her immune system and a constitutional remedy is her best bet. In winter, particularly if she is stabled overnight I often find her coughing up a very thick mucus in the morning. She also suffered from quite a severe urine infection this spring, giving the impression she was having contractions/was about to foal.
Despite all this she is in good spirits. She is a sociable animal, one of the herd leaders, the others all come and 'speak' to her before going elsewhere in the herd. She is a very big mare, normally gentle,she tends to use her size against people if she wants to get her own way, but is actually quite a timid soul - tell her off and she'd run away rather than argue with you.
Any suggestions as to where to start with a remedy would be very gratefully received - I'm running out of options for her.

Please give her arsenic alb 30c thrice a day at a gap of 4 hours for 7 days and report back.
Add 5 drops of arsenic alb 30c dilution in some 30 ml water and put that water in her mouth.

Thanks Kadwa. She's not the easiest to give liquid solutions to (presumably I'd have to syringe it in). Would the remedy be affected if I give her 30c pills - she takes them easily from me. Alternatively, could I add the liquid solution to a small amount of feed?

Initially there was no change. On day 4 she had a very snotty nose (thick, yellowy mucus) despite the fact that she was outside (the weather was quite damp) - very much in the same way that she does when we bring her into the stable overnight in the winter (in the morning she is full of snot and coughing up mucus).
Then no change whatsoever during the seven day course of treatment. 10 days after starting the aresenicum alb the swelling in her leg has reduced significantly, her mud fever seems to be improving. It's really difficult to tell with her sarcoids, the size certainly hasn't reduced but I have the impression that they are starting to dry out somewhat (they were oozing a yellow fluid and bleeding quite a bit).
What next?

please don't give her any remedy if she maintains her good health. Just keep her under observation, she will need Arsnic Alb 200c somewhere in future.

The sarcoids shrunk a little and seemed to dry up quite a bit. However, a couple of the bigger ones have just started to grow again, quite rapidly in only the last few days. The big ones are quite bloody looking (she may have kicked them when she lay down), no puss, more like lumps of raw meat. She now has a patch starting in the corner of her eye, I suspect it's a new sarcoid growing. Her legs are no longer puffy, the mud-fever seems much better, and she does not have a snotty nose. She also has the beginnings of an eye infection (yellow puss in the corner of her eyes), which she has picked up from her field companion.

Please give her three doses of Ars Alb 200c at a gap of 4 hours for one day (please don't give daily) and report back after 15 days.
