General Hints on Health and DietIt is important to understand that disease is intrinsic and not extrinsic to the body.
Many diseases happen because of the acidic nature of the digestive and metabolic end products of the body and as a result of imperfect oxidative processes by which the body maintains its activities.
When these end-products or bodily ashes are manufactured in amounts more than can be readily eliminated, we suffer from various consequences of its retention. Consequent to the same develops a state variously called as auto-intoxication, acid intoxication, self-poisoning, toxaemia, etc.
To maintain perfect health, one needs to be vary careful of the food intake. The basic requirements are :
- As far as possible, take your food in their natural form
- As far as possible, the food should be unrefined in character
- The diet should be balanced, i.e. it should have all the essential minerals and nutrients in just the right proportion.
In addition to the above, a person should make sure that he includes the following in his daily routine :
- Light exercise
- Lots of water
- Proper rest and sleep
- Regular bath
- Exposure to rays of sun
The greatest harm to our body is caused by the wrong kind of food, or the wrong combinations of right types.
Unfortunately, in our times, acid accumulation is very large no matter what we eat, and how we combine them.
Foods rich in protein, such as meats, fish, and cheese-when oxidized-leave behind the most irritating debris in large quantities. We need so little of this class that it is easy to overdo our needs. We the protein intake is more than required, it doesn't all get converted to urea but stops as sub-oxidation byproducts like uric acid, acid urates, xanthin, hypo-xanthin, creatin, creatinin and a host of others.
Use of refined and thoroughly denatured stuff is another major reason for derangement of health. Food items like white flour preparations, refined vegetable oils, white sugar, and so-called natural dietary supplements etc. are acid-forming to a very high degree and do not leave behind enough of natural alkaline elements necessary for sustainance of health.
When we eat natural foods in their natural form, we are not troubled with acid formation. Nature has balanced these food nicely
in tune with our digestive capacity.
ANYTHING THAT DEPLETES OUR ALKALINE RESERVE DEPLETES OUR FUNCTIONAL ACTIVITY.
All vegetables, all fruits, some of the nuts, & all raw vegetable salads leave behind alkaline residues while all starches and sugars, as well as concentrated protiens, the meats, eggs, fish and cheese leave behind an acid residue.
Acid-forming and alkaline-producing foods should ideally be taken on the ration of 3:8. Milk and butter milk should further be added to bolster the system.
The best combination with proteins is green vegetables, both cooked and raw, as salads. Tomatoes and citrus fruits also go well with proteins. One should be careful not to take sweet fruits with proteins.
