chronic cough in child, causing vomiting

hi there. i posted a few days ago, but noone got back to me re: my son's cough (except for one person, who picked up on the diarrhea aspect of my son's condition, though this is not the MAIN cause of my concerns, it is the cough).

My son is almost 4 years old, who started with a little tiny cough about a month ago (more like a tickle in his throat that caused it), then two weeks afterwards, he came down with a very small head cold that lasted about 2 days, and was only a runny nose and sneezing. the rest of us in the family got this very same cold, which was extremely mild, lasting two days, not going to the chest at all. about a week following the cold is when he started this new kind of cough. the cough has been very dry, lasting for about a week-and-a-half now. it wouldn't really appear during the day, only at nap and bedtime would it start. it would get so severe and spasmodic, that he would vomit from it, sometimes multiple times.

the cough has now turned into a more wet kind of cough, which a couple episodes of coughing fits happen during the day now, but mostly cough-free other than that, until it is time to lie down and sleep. this is when it sounds more dry, and then the vomiting starts.

another important factor is that i found some mold around our home in the last couple of days, and have been cleaning it out as thoroughly as possible, and have also installed air purifiers in the home. also, there has been an increase in vog (i live in hawaii, and this is fog that comes from the volcano. this often causes lots of respiratory distress in folks who are susceptible).

The only other thing is that my son has had intermittent diarrhea for the last 4 days. He went one day without having a bowel movement, but otherwise, it has been mostly loose, not severe, just loose and yellowish.

i have already given my son hekla lava for the vog, and one dose of drosera for the coughing that causes vomiting. none of it seems to help so far.

thank you for any help that you might be able to offer.

This is just a forum. Assume posts are not from medical professionals.
Ipecacuanha 30 three times a day.

thank yor for your reply. i will your try the epecacuanha as suggested.

today, he woke up in the morning, and the cough became fully loose, rattling. i cannot see the type of sputum, but wanted to see if there is a recommendation for that kind of cough, as the cough varies from dry and gagging/vomiting while he is lying down, to loose during the day. he has not had a fever, nor other symptoms other than these and the diarrhea. also, do you have a remedy for the possibiity of mold/dust allergy causing respiratory distress?

Ipecac is the indicated remedy here and you should try it first. You may give three doses of ipecac 30 for 2 days and stop.

thank you to both rajendra and kadwa. i have already given one day's worth of ipecac 30 (3 doses), and i will continue on with day #2 tomorrow. he already seems like he is improving (finally), as there was hardly a cough at bedtime, and definately no vomiting.

my only question is, i also gave him hekla lava 30c for the 'vog' (the gases that are currently being released from the volcano here, which causes respiratory distress in lots of people)...is it ok to give 2 remedies at once? i spaced both of them out (at least a half-an-hour between each). should i lay off of the hekla lava, and only give the ipecac? is it generally ok to give two different remedies in one day in homeopathy, or is that contraindicated?

It is better if giving two remedies in 30c potency on same day is avoided. Please give ipecac first. If there is substantial relief you need not give that for 2 days. Only giving that for one day is enough. You should think about hekla lava 30 only later, not now. Again giving hekla lava for vog is not homeopathy.
