Growing Pain or something else

My 10 year old son has pain in left leg from knee to foot (shin bone) for 2-3 times in 24 hours for the last 7-8 months. All his x-rays and blood reports seems to be OK. It has become chronic now. Usually it is in the evening and early in the morning,e.g. 5-6 PM and 2-3 AM respectively. Doctor has declared it as growing pain but we are very much worried about his condition. He cannot walk properly and limbs. Sometimes the pain is very sever and he starts crying.

The pain usually stay there for 2-3 hours and he wakes up in the night as well.

Is there any medicine(s) that can be given to him to get the relief? Thanks
