dry skin - dermatology problem

I am 39 yrs old male and having very good health.
For some heart monitoring the legs are shaved to put the sensing electrodes on the skin surface. This was 3 years ago.
Since then every winter here in Chicago, USA ( temps like -3Deg C are common for about 3 months) where I live I see flakes of dry skin peeling off. During summer here the problem is negligible. Now my legs are dry and extermely itichy. I apply vasaline or some skin cream. The problem area is spreading but very slowely. Now my both legs in the front are with 50 to 60 % flaked skin and is showing pink to red patches. I can touch this area without nay pain. On the back side of my legs there are no patches as that area was not shaved 3 years ago. No blood or any kind of secretion is from the affected ares. Just scales of peeling skin.

Dry skin runs in my family but
I never had this king of bad skin problem in the past 39 years. Prior to this incident I never had to deal with any skin problems as they were simple mild dry skin during winters.

1) Is there a cure for my problem in Momeopathi ?
2) If yes will it be some kind of skin cream some oral mediaction or both?
3) What should I do to avoid for it to flare up or reappear every winter?

I am providing as much info as possible as this forum is viewed by some homeopathy docs who may suggest some medication.

This is just a forum. Assume posts are not from medical professionals.
One of the reasons that I dislike dermatology is the fact that the history of homeopathy is full of problems [ more or less serious] caused by applying treatment to the skin.
If you feel you must then use an unmedicated lanolin cream.

If dry skin runs in your family then you are all in the Psoric classification of the miasms.

The fact that the problems flares up in the winter suggests remedies like Fluor Acid , Aurum, Nux Vom and Psorinum. Also listed is Silica. Go have a look at Kuldeep's entry on silica and acne .

may sound a silly question to you but do you wear long or short socks in winter, and what are they made of? My thoughts are that in summer your legs are less 'covered' as it is warmer??

I wear Hanes brand 100% cotton crew type and not the mini crew type.
Until last week wether it is summer or winter I wore it to top. Last one week I got semi-crew type and using those.

Okey dokey.....passkey's reply looks right on. Could also consider other remedies with more symptoms. are you thirsty? cold or hot-blooded? do you have good circulation? has the hair on this area grown back after shaving?

I feel I can stay without water more than normal I feel. I drink less water generally speaking I think. After brusing 1 glass everyday morning though.
Cold blooded
Cant say about circulation.
Hair has not grown since. This area was full of skin flakes. Now it is all bald and red. Less sensation, no pain in the area. On the countours of the area more dry flaky skin now makes me itch there but I control the urge to do so.
Applying for the last 7 days
Calendula lotion on top of
Boericke & Tafel's - Florasone Cream 2 times in 24 hrs.

how long were the electrodes on your skin? were you diagnosed with a heart condition?
are you generally better in the summer or just your skin?

I am perfectly health person except for this skin irritation.
The stuff was put on to connect the ECG probes. It was on me for may be 5 mts.
I do not have any heart or any other problems that I know of as of today.
Only my skin and only during winter (cold in chicago for 6 to 8 months according to me) and MOSTLY on my legs for the last 3 years has been a problem. During summer (3 to 6 months) the skin problem perhaps goes into dormant state. Only on some observation during summer one can notice some past problem (damage from winter).

can I ask you what the skin becomes like if you do scratch it? Also is it affected at all when you shower or bath?
I just checked about electrodes and apparently a salt solution is used when they are applied to skin - not sure from the description whether also gel is applied or whether the gel contains the salt - any ideas on this yourself?

When I scratch and if I did not apply any moisturing lotion dandruff like dry skin fall off.
As soon as shower I apply moisturising lotion.
I wash the legs in shower and leplemish the lost moistures I hope by the moisturing lotion.

Since the electrodes are put on me 3 to 4 years ago in my hazy memory I recall they applied some kind of clear gluey jelly - again this is what I am not 100% sure if they really applied or not.

I'll think about this overnight and get back to u tomorrow. If you think of any more symptoms pls post them and I'll read them in morning. It is important to know if the heart monitoring was a routine check-up or did you have any symptoms being investigated at the time?
You say the skin problem is MOSTLY on your legs/shins - do you mean you also have it elsewhere on your body?

When electrodes were put on several parts of my body including on my chest (shaved on my chest also) for ECG. I had some skin irritation and some dry skin over my chest until last winter. Since last fall I have on and off applied clean vasiline and acquafur on vulnerable places. This winter I see problem only on my legs. This was my reason to say MOSTLY. The heart check was more of a routine stuff.
Dry skin type of problem is in my family but I beleive that shaving my shin area triggered something that aggreviate the problem more so during cold winters.

Hi again - don't know what time it is in your time zone but sorry to have kept you waiting! Constipation or not was one thing important to know - thanks kapil...
In fact there are a whole bunch of things that would need to be asked to advise you properly and it is very very difficult to suggest something without actually seeing your skin condition or yourself and without a proper consultation, as caring homeopathically for your skin condition means also caring for and knowing about your complete self and health. So, as this is obviously not possible on this forum, I will try to help withn a 'first aid' type suggestion only. But even for this I need yet more info--- could you let me know any scans, x-rays or other investigations you have had during the past - particularly around the time of your heart check-up/examination - this is important for me to know to help decide on a remedy. Also when you say 'vulnerable' skin areas do you mean 'private' areas/genitals? Do you usually have a lot of body hair and does your skin burn or tan easily in the sun?? What sort of foods do you crave and do any foods upset you? What drinks do you prefer (alcoholic and non-alcoholic) and do any upset you?
As a note, and before I forget to say, it would be beneficial to check you are getting enough vitamin A in your diet, and vitamin C. Also make sure you are drinking enough water (don't overdo it and go mad for it!!!, just enough for your needs) as dry skin is also dehydrated skin (hence constipation, poss headaches and other related ailments).

I'm afraid i dont have the advice or knowledge like the others here, but i am a consultant for a Swiss skin care company and i can give you one bit of advice about the lotion you are using...make sure it does not have mineral oil in it. Mineral oil acts as a barrier and will not allow any moisturizing agent into your skin...find a soap and lotion without alcohol or mineral oil...lots of luck!

I had the same problem a couple years ago , but I have used Gerovital Plant Bio and now my face looks healthier and younger. I am really glad I have discovered this cream. Has anyone else tried it?
