When the doses are taken daily it is better to raise potency of each dose by succusing. This is possible only with the wet doses.
When the doses are taken as a set of doses and symptoms are reviewed after some days like one or two weeks dry doses could be taken.

Kadwa, can you help me.
About 6 weeks ago now, I took some Merc sol, 30c x 2 twice a day. I stopped after 2 days of this as it made my speech and saliva much, much worse. Although stopping it has improved the problem slightly. It is still worse than it originally was. Thats 6 weeks ago now. I suppose it scared me, but my sister, who is in to alternative stuff, tells me it could get worse before it gets better.
I would have thought the effects would have worn off, but it has left me much worse and I am scared to take any more.

The thumb rule of taking any homeopathic remedy is to stop taking that remedy if there is an aggravation or significant amelioration. There is no point in taking the remedy continuosly when the earlier doses are causing aggravation.
This is more true about the remedies that are taken on the basis of local symptoms ignoring the totality of symptoms.
So in my opinion you shouldn't take further doses of Merc Sol.

So, what do you suggest that I do? It seems that taking the Merc sol for a couple of days, permamently, triggered a bad reaction.

Cuprum Met antidotes Merc and its profuse saliva symptom is same as Merc. i suggest you to take a single dose of Cuprum Met 30c and see how that affects in the next 7 days.

Are you sure about Cuprum Met, as I have looke it up and it is for dry coughs and spasms.

So it should help your saliva symptoms.

This may mean that the excess salivation is not due to Merc Sol. It may be due to something else.
