Steroids effecting immunity?

Hi there,

I'm a 36 year old female with a history of chronic infections. I had meningitis 9 years ago, sub-acute chronic appendicitis for four years, chronic recurrent mono, and also recurrent oral herpes (simplex A) outbreaks that usually happen with the fluctuation of my hormonal cycle.

I recently had bloodwork that showed low lymphocytes and high neutrophils. I did some research and came across some discussions related to usage of steroids.

Growing up I was prescribed numerous rounds of prednizone for asthma and sinus infections. Is there any remedy that can counteract prior steroid usage? I suspect this might be the underlying cause of my immune issues.

Aside from these bouts of infections, I am in very good health. I eat macrobiotic, drink lots of water, exercise, and have a lot of energy when I am not fighting an infection. It is simply that I am more susceptible to infections (I get something at least once a month) and I wonder if the steroids might be the underlying cause.

Also, I am hypersensitive to remedies and easily 'prove' them. I've also used remedies specifically for each of the infections listed above... and while they resolve the infection, nothing has since resolved my underlying immunity issue which has gone on for years.

Any suggestions are appreciated.

Thanks!
