Dog Eats Tree Bark

Hi,

We have a 16-month-old male German Shepherd puppy with the following symptoms:

-obsessively bites large trees and eats the bark
-whimpers periodically throughout the day
-has separation anxiety (i.e. whining, barking, running, crying) when my boyfriend leaves for work
-has had severe gastrointestinal problems a couple times recently during emotionally-sensitive times in the household. He was given a battery of tests at a veterinary specialist's office with inconclusive results.

He also had an incident when he was 6 months old involving a dog chasing the vehicle in which he was riding. He was startled and had a strong, aggressive reaction. Since then, he has been anxious and hyper-vigilant when riding in the vehicle.

Any remedy recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you
