The ABC Homeopathy Forum

9 year old addicted to sugar

Hello, my daughter has had issues of overeating and overindulging most of her life. She also has issues with hoarding large amounts of food and hiding things and food. I was looking for a constitutional remedy that would help her. She seems to care about people, but that diminishes when it comes to food she lies and odes what ever it takes to over eat. Unable to feel full usually. She is a twin born pemature in an incubator for two months. She has huge fear of abandonment and not having enough of just about anything she's doing. She blows up like a balloon and can't wear clothes that would normally be considered her size. Lycopodium has helped in the past a bit. She has a tendency to be overheated and gas and stomach pains.

Please point me in the right direction, or give me some answers if you have any.

Thank-you for your prompt reply. She had a tendency to overindulge at ages three and four. Going to the refrigerator and dumping things out on the floor or eating a whole jar of pickles. as she has gotten older I have been better able to understand her symptoms and able to ask her about why she does certain things. I ran a Remedy Finder this moring and it came back as Calc Carb as the remedy. She is saying her teeth are hurting so she has to chew to releive the pain. I'm ordering some scented teething things per her request. She has decided to chew straws until it makes her feel better. There is a lieing component involved that causes me worry for later in her life as a teen ager. After her meal and a talk about not lieing and sneaking food she still snuck food... I had her sit down with me and we answered the homeopathy finder...this is the link that came up.

Your insights are greatly appreciated.

she's active, yet moody. Anxious, impatient, a worse temper when she was younger now not so bad. you care about people and always try to help, but can get overwhelmed and very angry turning to destructive dangerous behavior.
Her feelings, when I ask her she says scared, impatient. /she always appears very confident to your teachers and freinds. Sometimes pushy. Fears of abandonnemnet probably from trauma...We adopted her and her twin brother. both born premature 2 months early, in incubator for first month with brother second month by herself. she's very industrious cannot be still always looking to make bake do something. does not like to clean her room. Like most children her age. Likes to try new things and a great help aroound the house. Hoarding in her room...food, oother peoples stuff. Likes to dump and squish shampoo conditioner anything that can be squeezed. She has said her teeth...I think in the wisdom teeth location hurt and that she has to chew on something for them to quite hurting.

She stays pretty warm most of the time and can get over heated when playing. She likes to have the air conditioner running in her bedroom at night even during the winter, but her head does not get sweaty at night.

She sneaks excess food daily as often as three times a day, meaning she will eat her regular three meals and a snack in afternoon and milk before bed to help her relax and still have to have sometimes three excessive snacks in between a day. An example is sneaking a whole carton of ice cream. To her room to eat it. She will lie about it...Now that I'm on to her she will come clean and be truthful and later says she feels guilty. I feel so bad about it now I don't have the heart to take excessive food if it's cheese or something that isn't excessively sugary.

If you have any other specific questions about her personality please just ask.

We've tried different homeopathic remedies and have had some luck in some areas. This issue seems to be at the root of the issues and is a hard one for me to understand, except that the Cal Carb remedy has come up for the latest Remedy Finder. I'm looking to see if a miasmic remedy may apply here.

Thank-you so much for your kind responses.

Hoarding food:
we've always fed her and her brother regular meals, maybe more than regular because they were born premature. I'm thinking the trauma from being in the incubator for 2 mnths before we adopted them may have cause a deep seeded fear of abandonment and not having enough food to survive. then when we over fed bottle and formula feeding to overcompensate it may have caused a possible excessive feel good bout food syndrome; addiction.

Hoarding other things she says she wants to play with stuff, but then she never takes it back where she found it. then doesn't remember that she put it in her room.

She gets thirsty, but doesn't like to drink water that much. I try to get her to drink a few glasses of water a day, she will mostly drink small sips of the water.

The blowing up like a balloon, I believe an allergic reaction, possibly yeast.

Mostly scared of new things, that she might not be feel comfortable or be good enough. She is automatically very critical of herself when it comes to performance at school.

She does not have a real sense of body awareness and has required extra sensory stimulation.

She's not afraid of heights. She does have excessive anticipatory anxiety before events. She can be jealous and sometimes hateful.

She is big for her age, she wears small size in adult clothing since she was about 8 she's 9 now.

She's had excessive gas sine she was a baby and acid stomach the doctors had put her on zantac for her stomach, now, every now and then I have to give her a prevacid. I try to keep the antacids down to a minimum.

she has gas and pains in her stomach as if she doesn't have the correct enzymes to digest her food and she has to eat to start the digestion process.

She constantly is wanting to eat, over eat, this past week, she snuck and ate the rest of her birthday cake..almost half. The day after that she ate her brothers ice cream cake approximately half of the cake. But she will also take a whole box of crackers, bag of cheese. I guess it's more like she is addicted to chewing.

She is very impatient is constantly trying to hurry things up....I guess controlling the situation, because after she has done something she really wanted to do she is not satisfied or happy she just immediately moves on to the next thing she has to have or has to do.

She is overweight for her age. She just turned 9 years old, I just weighed her so I could tell you her weight....She weighs 120 lbs.

in respect to:
She does not have a real sense of body awareness and has required extra sensory stimulation

Can u explain that in more detail .

She and her brother have had to have physical therapists and occupational therapists since they were born, because of the trauma at birth, there birth mother had been taking crack cocaine. I can tell you what a terrible thing that does to a child.
Her nervous system has been in need of repair almost like burn out, she seems to seek stimulation to get the sensory input just to feel...'normal' it's called Hyposensory.

SarahSmile last decade
in respect to the burn out and the overdrive...She seems to respond to the Nuxvomica. I'm just not sure what dosage, how long or how often would be best.

SarahSmile last decade
Have u tried Argentum Nitricum

vikas_grower last decade
No we haven't what dosage would you recommend and for how long?

SarahSmile last decade
Dissolve 2 pellets ( or pour 2 drops of liquid )of Argentum Nitricum 30 c in a 250 ml spring water bottle. Allow the pellets to dissolve on their own which takes some time . You can shake it gently after they have dissolved.

Take a capful from this bottle 3 times , spaced by 45 minutes .

Thats it . 3 capfuls only .

No further repetition of the medicine . We then wait for a week

No homeopathic medicine should be repeated until the reaction to the initial dose is observed.

Well if the remedy selected is ok then the first sign of improvement will noticed in the first few days

Restrictions:

1/. Nothing should enter the mouth for 40 minutes prior to, or after taking the remedy.

2/. Do not touch the tablets with your hands, tip them into the cap of the container they came in and then into the water .

3/. Avoid coffee, tea (including green), and other sources of caffeine such as some fizzy drinks and large amounts of chocolate.

THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT .
4/. Avoid wearing perfume/aftershave, or exposure to anything with a strong smell while under treatment. This includes any and all essential oils, and incense.

THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT .
5/. Avoid the consumption of excessively spicey foods
6/. The use of medicinal herbs, either as 'teas' or supplements should be avoided during Homoeopathic treatment, as should the use of over the counter medication, unless this has been recommended by an MD.

7/. Nothing of a medicinal nature should be applied to the skin

Please also remember as explained that the 3 doses has to be taken once .

.

Avoid coffee and any strong smelling cosmetic ,
