Toe fungus in 2 1/2 year old

My son got a toe fungus last year about this time. One of his toenails was yellow and hard and then turned black and was falling off. The doctor said that it is caused by sweaty feet and that it develops over time when he wears socks a lot as in the winter.

The condition has returned. It is on about all of his toes, but not as severe as the last time--none of the toenails are falling off. Some of the toenails are yellowish and some are turning black. They are hard and the black substance almost looks like dirt.

He has had two nights of restless sleep. Last night, he woke up about 12:30 crying and yelling and said that his toes hurt.

I washed his feet and, since he was in pain and I had some of the medication from last year, I put it on his toes. It is called Centany (Mupirocin ointment). It seemed to help some. He said in the morning that his toes felt better and they looked a little better but I would like to use a homeopathic remedy for him for this.

Other things to know about the condition is that he didn't wear socks and shoes constantly all summer last year and even into the winter this year. He was always wanting to take his socks and shoes off. Within the last month, he started wanting to wear his shoes more which may have contributed to the condition.

Also, during the winter he wears footie pajamas to bed and sometimes socks. Tonight, I put him in pajamas without feet and took off his socks so that his feet can breathe a little. That seemed to help last time.

There are really no other symptoms. He doesn't have a fever. His diet has not been as good as normal because we are still getting settled from moving. The only other thing that may be important is that a couple of days ago, he had one of those days where he tried everything he could to do the opposite of what I wanted him to do, but that is just his age too. He mostly has been cooperative and his usual social, happy self.

I am also wondering if this is possibly a reaction to major transitions in his life. He got it last year a couple of weeks after my daughter was born. We moved three weeks ago and now he has it again. It may not be relevant, but I thought I would mention it. Perhaps he is feeling ungrounded right now?

He has been playing outside a lot in the last couple of weeks, doing a lot more running around. He didn't have a back yard to play in until we moved to the new home and it is his favorite place to play. I will check his shoes tomorrow when I put them on him to be sure they still fit him comfortably.

The weather has been sunny the last couple of days with temperatures in the 50s and 60s.

I'd appreciate any ideas. Thanks. Linda

This is just a forum. Assume posts are not from medical professionals.
Fungal infection in such a small child is a serious matter. I used Thuja with success. It will take some months to rid off fungus.

Buy
Sulphur-6C (Morning)
Thuja-6C (Evening)
