Insulin resistance: not losing weight

Hello,

Recently, an endocrinologist has diagnosed me with Insulin resistance. Here are my details:
Age: 37
Height: 5'2'
Weight: 77 kgs
I am a married working woman. I have a three year old son. I have a lot of stress at home because my husband does not have an income and have a hostile mother in law.

I was never thin. Have been a big girl. Changes began after I attained puberty at the age of 10. My height stopped increasing and I think my weight problem started back then. But back then I had a very hectic life... lots of play and ate just two meals, so I guess the weight was controlled.

There have been times when my weight grew, but I have always managed to get it back on track.

This time though I seem to be having trouble losing the weight I gained after my delivery.

Before I conceived, I had PCOD. However, I think my doctor gave me some medicine to ovulate and voila, I conceived.

Currently I am free of cysts. Here are my symptoms:
1. Tiredness... sometimes there are extremes.
2. Lack of strength. Though I go to the gym almost everyday I am building muscles.
3. Mood swings.
4. Stretching of skin due to fluid retention.
5. Irritability.

I get my 8 hours of sleep and have a moderately active lifestyle.

I am very level-headed and calm at work, however, at home the slightest bit can irritate me a lot.

I was made to do a battery of tests and the endocrinologist said I have signs of insulin resistance (though the sugar levels, etc are quite ok). The only values that are high are LDL and Prolactin.

I have practically no medical history, apart from having chicken pox as a child, typhoid as an adolescent, and C-section (PCOD before that).

My thyroid has been absolutely normal throughout my life.

My questions are:
1. Do you think I have insulin resistance? What can really prove I have it?
2. What could be the reason for me not being able to lose weight?
3. Can you suggest some homeopathy treatment for me?

Currently, I have been asked to take Glycomet (Metformin). However, while it has helped me reduce my distending tummy, it hasn't helped too much with the other symptoms.

This has severely disrupted my life and I do really need my peace of mind to be the best mother my son can have.

Please do advice.

This is just a forum. Assume posts are not from medical professionals.
It is not possible to answer all questions that you have raised. But in my opinion Natrum Mur should help you.
Please take a single dose of Natrum Mur 200c for only one day (not daily) and report back after 15 days.

One dose means
If the medicine is in pills form 4 pills. Don't touch pills with hand. Use cap of bottle to take pills.
If the medicine is in liquid dilution form, 3-4 drops in some 20 ml water. Sip up slowly.

Please follow homeo restrictions like no coffee, no raw onion/garlic, no strong perfumes, don't eat or drink anything within 45 minutes before or after taking medicine.

Thank you.

I look forward to writing back 15 days after I've taken the dose.

If you can guide me with respect to the diet I can follow, for example, less carbs, more proteins, that will help too.

Regards,
Shilpa

It is better to take a fiber rich diet like green leafy vegetable. Green leafy veggies are rich in protien and one experiences fullness after eating for a long time as being fiberous it moves slowly thru the intestines and assimilation takes place over a long period of time. Also the other things that we have daily like dal, roti and some rice.

Sweets should be strictly avoided. Junk food and cola drinks should be avoided.

Please read my posts on the breathing exercises called as Kapalbhati Pranayam and Anulom Vilom Pranayam by following the links given below. Please practise these pranayams regularly for half an hour preferably in a garden early in the morning. You may practise at any other convinient time. The only restriction that you have to follow is not to do these exercises within 4 hours after meals. You can have meals not within 15 minutes after finishing these exercises.
