1 yr baby with weak sphincter muscle, reflux, vomitting
My baby was born at 35.5 weeks & he was 1545 gms. He doesnt have any other neurological or developmental problems. He is almost walking now & is quite active & babbling a lot.1) Acid reflux problem, since birth in which he used to vomit his entire feedings.
Kept upright 1 hr after feeds, no stimulii, raised the top of his crib by 30 degs. No use.
For the 1st six months he gained approx 2 pounds each month.
At the age of 7 months, his GI put him on Prevacid 7mg ( PPI) for 3 months. His feedings did not increase, his vomitting was less but never stopped.
For his 8 month check-up, he had the following statistics : Weight - 7.12Kgs
Height - 66cms
Head O - 43.5cm
For his 12 month check-up, he was : Weight - 8.2 Kgs
Height - 73.5 cms
Head O - 46cms
She concluded that he might have a weak sphincter muscle & slight acid reflux. He had a tube in his nose for feedings for 1st 21 days of life.
Since he sleeps well, eats well & is not in pain, she said there was no need to treat the acid reflux with unnecessary meds & his body will balance it eventually.
Abt the muscle, she said that by 18 months to 2yrs of age, he should not have any problem & basically just told me to wait it out.
I have been dealing with his vomitting on a daily basis & have developed lot of stress & anxiety over his weight & vomitting.
I am desperate for some solution & want him to grow in weight as well.
I really do not want him to take unnecessary meds or undergo invasive surgeries, but i want his vomitting to be stopped.
He is bright child otherwise & i want to give him lots of exposure & different experiences.
He vomits when he is excited, exerting, crying, burping, coughing & very easily.
The vomits do not affect him, doesnt cry. Can eat & drink immed after vomit.
He eats different texture & a variety of foods. The vomits have no pattern & can be full feedings or 1 tbsp.
He doesnt have any allergies.
Was breast fed exclusively for 1st 6 months. He vomitted tht too.
Doesnt have teeth yet but the dentist can see them in his jaw. Gets Calcimax 500mg syrup everyday & Calc phos.
Stool culture negative for parasites etc.
Getting BC1 for iron two pills twice a day.
Have tried IrisV 1 pill thrice a day.
Pls help me I m really losing my mind over this
What medicine will strengthen his weak Lower Easophaegal Sphincter muscle & stop his vomits.

Dear Dr Mukherjee,
Will try this immediately as i have lots of homeopathy meds with me.
I had a question: he is getting
1) BC1 - 1 pill twice daily
2) Calc Phos -1 twice daily
3) Dentonic - 1 twice daily
4) Chamomile - 2 small pills when agitated with tooth pain or a restless night.
Shuld these meds be stopped during the 15 days of treatment or can they be continued as normal?
Will surely let you know the result after 15 days.

Hello Dr. Mukherjee,
I am extremely happy to report that my baby's vomitting has almost stopped. Since the past 3-4 days he has vomitted rarely & approx 1tbsp if at all.
I have ordered Ferrum Met as i didnt have it.
He has started walking now & is much happier. He also sleeps a lot now. Maybe it doesnt hurt him anymore.
Now the only issue is his low weight. I have been trying to feed him solids every 2 hrs or so.
Should i still give him the prescibed medicine routine now that he seems better?
Is there any medicine we can give to increase his weight? He is 18 pounds now at 13 months.
Thank you so much Dr. You gave me reassurance at the time when i was feeling lost & had no one to turn to.
