Piles/Constipation/Insomnia

Hi friends,
I have been suffering from insomnia and constipation from a very young age, along with occasional asthma and frequent other ailments (so I have never been able to play sports competitively). I am about 23 now and maintain a regular exercise routine, though my stamina is not too good. 3 months ago I also started getting excruciating pain while passing motion. This was later detected as a combination of pilesand fissures. I sought the advise of many doctors, who informed me that surgery might not be worth it as this is still in a less advanced stage and surgery may have a few risks too. So I asked around for a homeopathic cure, and found a renowned doctor in my area. He cured me of fissures but I still have the piles problem. He says it will take some time to get rid of this. The problem is that whenever I get a bout of constipation, my piles get aggrevated. I have no idea what medicine the doctor prescribes as he never writes it down for me (he prepares it himself n gives me the end results). I am facing a lot of problems in my work due to these things and my productivity is very low. I would be very grateful if anyone can advice me what to do regarding a) piles b) constipation and c)insomnia. Also the doctor told me not to eat radishes while my homeopathy course is on. I want to know if I can have radishes, as whenever I do my piles seem better. Please tell me if I need to produce anymore information.

Thank you

Dear Jewish Homeopath and Joe De Livera,

I am suffering from similar problems to anythingoes. Please suggest me what to do. I have filled up your questionnaire below.

Age: 22
Sex: M

1. Describe your main suffering?
a. Constipation and Insomnia since I was about 10 yrs old.
b. Developed pilesand what seems to be fissures for about a yr now

2. What other physical sufferings do you have in your body?
a. I seem to have a very low stamina and feel weak and depressed most of the time.
b. Feel very drowsy in the afternoon and need to sleep for at least half an hour to recover.

3. What mental sufferings / feelings do you have associated with your physical sufferings?
a. Depression and anxiety
b. My memory seems to be very weak and I forget even the most basic information if I am not paying 100% attention.
c. I feel cowardly when facing confrontations, mostly because I feel that I may not be able to handle it and may end up doing something foolish.
d. There are times when I feel extremely elated and upbeat. I can face any situations at those times and feel that nothing could put me down. These episodes happen every once in a while, mostly when I get some good news.

4. What exactly do you feel when you are at your worst? Describe the sensation in your own words.
Ans. When my piles or constipation aggravate I feel that I have been cursed with so many internal ailments that make it hard to concentrate on anything. I keep wondering how I am going to solve these problems and how I am going to achieve my dreams. I completely withdraw from the society and lock my self up in my room, coming out only for food and natural calls. Feel weak and lack energy and drive completely.

5. When did it all start? Can you connect it to any past event or disease?
Ans. Constipation has been with me for a long time, but I remember that when I was about 9 or 10 I used to hate passing stool and avoid it as much as possible, going only once or twice a week. Then I started getting excrutiating pain in my legs and found out that it was due to my holding back my stools, leading to gas formation or something in my body. I tried to be more regular then but I still took a long time to pass motion every day. I used to drink a lot of water and walk around in the morning to create pressure.

My sleep too had always been difficult but it became worse when I was about 13-14, when I deliberately used to stay awake to study. Since then I don't feel sleepy at night at all, even if I am dead tired.

6. Which time of the day you are worst?
Morning & Afternoon
Feel very energetic at night

7. What are the things which aggravate your suffering and which are those which ameliorate the same? Example- time, temperature, pressure, rubbing, washing, eating, tight clothing etc.

Ans. Hot weather, Morning or afternoon, Strong ineffectual urge for motion, rubbing, tight clothing, change in eating timings, eating spices

8. Do your think your sufferings have relation to any external stimuli (like, change of place) or any internal biological changes in the body, like, menses (in females)?
Yes, a lot. Any change in place effects my sleep and constipation a lot, sometimes positively sometimes otherwise.

9. When do you feel better, during hot weather or cold weather, humid or dry weather?
Ans. Cold and humid

10. Describe your general mental set up? Are you Moody, Arrogant, Mild, Agreeable Changeable, Nervous, Suspicious, Easily offended, Quiet, Arguing, Irritating, Lazy etc.
Ans. Changeable, Lazy, Easily offended, sometimes hyperactive and aggressive

- How do you feel before or during a thunderstorm?
Ans. Slight disturbance, but generally good and thrilled.

- Do you like being consoled during your tough times?
Ans. Yes, by close friends

- Are you sensitive to external stimuli like smell, noise, light etc?
Ans. Light and even moderately loud sound irritate me lot, especially at night

- Do you have any typical habit or gesture like nail biting, causeless
Weeping, talking to one self etc?
Ans. Talk a lot in my own head, when down

- How do you feel about your friends, family, your children and especially your husband / wife?
Ans. It's good to have them. Feel great love for parents and sibling. Not married.

11. What are your fears and do you dream of any situation repeatedly?
Ans. Yes, fear of facing very testing situations, especially confrontations. But don't dream about them.

12. What do you crave for in food items and what are your aversions?
Ans. I love eating meat and fruits and dairy stuff a lot. Can't have raw onions or fish in my food, they make me nauseous.

13. How is your thirst: Less, Normal or Excessive?
Ans. Thirst less than normal during the day, very thirsty at night. Need to go to the loo many times the whole day too.

14. How is your hunger: Less, Normal or Excessive?
Ans. Normal

15. Is there any kind of food which your body can’t stand?
Ans. Onions are nauseating.

16. Is your sweat normal or less or more? Where does it sweat more: Head, Trunk or Limbs?
Ans. I sweat more than normal in my trunk and genitals.

17. How is your bowel movement and stool type?
Ans. Takes a long time and mostly medium hard, at least the initial bit. Feel ineffectual urges a lot too.

18. How well do you sleep? Do you have a particular posture of sleeping?
Ans. Take a long time to sleep. To avoid going crazy I watch TV at night. Also sleep on my right side mostly.

20. Do you have any strange, peculiar or unusual symptom or feelings? How are you different from others?
Ans. I am very ambitious and have great hopes of myself. Get depressed when see myself failing at anything, and withdraw into myself. Avoid direct confrontations, don't take criticism well and feel angry very easily. When I let out my anger, I tend to destroy a lot of things. In the past had attacked other kids in school viciously after confrontations, though felt cowardly afterwards.

21. What medications have been taken earlier by you to treat the diseases and do you have any particular symptom surfacing after the medication?
Ans. Take pisyllium husk ( ocasionally) and triphala churna for constipation. For piles, am taking pain killers prescribed by doctors here and sometimes radishes.

Please help me out here.

To Constantine

It is possible that your chronic constipation is the root cause of your problems.

Nat Phos 6x dose 3 tablets taken thrice daily for a week and reduced to twice daily thereafter can help you to keep your stools soft.

Hamamelis 200 in the Wet dose taken twice daily will help your Hemorrhoids.

The Wet dose of any Homeopathic remedy is made as follows:

Order the remedy in the Ethanol pack also referred to as Liquid Dilution in a bottle preferably with a dropper arrangement.
Get a 500ml bottle of Spring Water from the nearest supermarket.
Pour out about 3cm of water from the bottle to leave some airspace.
Insert 3 drops of the remedy into the bottle and shake the bottle hard before you sip a capfull of the bottle or a large teaspoonful which is the dose.
Shaking the bottle hard is homeopathic succussion and this shaking must be done every time before sipping a capful of the bottle twice daily.
