back and stomach aches
I have a recurring problem that comes up a few times a year that I want to see if I can get some help with.I have a back ache that reaches from my shoulder blades down to the middle of my back. It is a dull ache. Along with this comes a stomachache that seems to be right behind my belly button.
I am very tired and sluggish feeling and just want to sit or lay down.
The stomach ache feels like I ate something I shouldn't have. I have recently added flax seeds to my diet on a more regular basis, so I am thinking this may be part of the stomach hurting--more fiber than my stomach is used to. Bowel movements don't always relieve the stomach pain though as is the case today.
I think my back may hurt from lifting children, but I do that everyday. Perhaps I pulled a muscle or something. I also have been gardening, so that may have added to it.
My mood has been generally calm the last few days. Tonight when the pain got worse, I became a little crabby but was able to calm down quickly.
I have some seasonal allergies going on, but it is toward the end of it for now, I think. I just have some thick mucus, kind of yellowish in the morning. No more sneezing or watery itchy eyes, so I don't think those symptoms are part of this, but thought I should mention them.
The weather here has been rainy or cloudy until this afternoon when the sun came out. Temperatures have been in the 50-60's.
Because of the physical exertion factor, I took arnica two times two hours apart, but it hasn't helped me. Any suggestions?

This is just a forum. Assume posts are not from medical professionals.
is this pain (back and stomach) there every day - if not then how often do you get it?
Also does the pain go from your belly button through to your back and up? or does it start in the back throu to the stomach?

It comes every couple of months, sometimes more often and seems to be related to food usually, but sometimes I think exertion is part of it. It lasts about a day.
It seems to start in the stomach

is there any more information you can tell us about this - is there any food or drink that may cause it, have you any history of hernias? What helps ease the pain when you have it?
any symptoms relating to your general health, mood and your character will help indicate a remedy.

No history of hernia. I have had this problem for about six years when I started eating more vegetables due to my husband eating a vegetarian diet. That is why I thought it was food related in some way.
Brocolli, squash, zucchini, mushrooms, sometime cabbage and peppers seemed to cause it. I try to avoid these foods unless they are well cooked. I have not had any of these in the last few days. So I thought the flax seed added to my diet may have caused it or I have had a lot of chocolate the last few days although I have not noticed it with chocolate before.
It lasts usually for about a day, where I have it pretty much the whole time unless I am laying down. Sitting helps some. This happens about once every month or so.
Now that I am thinking of it, it is really hard to tell if it starts in the stomach or the back. It seems like I notice the stomach first, most of the time, but yesterday I was noticing my back and shoulders first.
I have had two children in the last three years--my son is almost three and my daughter just turned one. I have nursed them both. My son quit nursing about three months before my daughter was born. She is still nursing.
General health - I am very tired often. I lift them a lot, so thought that may have added to the pain in the back and stomach.
I had a urinary tract infection in October and had a reaction to the sulfa based antibiotic and people on this forum helped me with that. My daughter also had a yeast infection recently, about a month and a half ago, and I was taking chien chin for that for me and her. I think I had the infection too. It seems to be gone.
Mood - I am usually a calm, quiet person, but the past year with the stress of parenting two young children I am more irritable. I have had bouts of depression throughout my life. It has not been bad for several years, just blues the last few years.
Character - I am a very honest person and try to live by my values, with integrity. I am pretty emotionally sensitive for myself and others. I work in a helping profession part time while my kids are young.
Thanks for your response.

I've thought more about the things that help it. Sometimes ginger tea helps the stomach. Also I just used the heating pad on my stomach and that helps while it is under the heat.

Hello again, you have forgotton you need more calcium. you have been nursing and there has been an illness to recover. MUCH stress in your life.
Please get some liquid calcium. It looks like little white oily foot balls in the jar. Take 3 before dinner and three more before bed. It needs to be taken in the evening as it promotes sleep.
Do not get "mixed" with anything.
ERIODICTYON 30C is the remedy that will benefit you. Take one dose each am after breakfast in clean mouth each day (once per day) for 7 days.
When we work hard and are under stress, we use up the free-flowing calcium fuel in our bodies. It then is leached out of the spine to fill this need. Hence the backache. Sometimes high and most times low. This and the remedy will balance the pain and the stomach.
Blessings, Sabra

Thanks Sabra. I never knew that about calcium and the stomach/back ache that I get! I already take the Liquid Health brand of calcium, but maybe not enough. I will take more.
Thanks again for the information.

You may need to find someone in the health store that uses muscle testing. They can "test" you to see which brand is best so you won't be taking some that are just "passing through."
If you ever take hard tabs, break them with teeth, not necessary to chew up, just break up.
Take the Eriodictyon too.

Sabra, just wanted to let you know I appreciate your acknowledgment of the stress level involved with parenting two young children. I haven't even acknowledged it except to know I am tired and frazzled. I just keep going. There is no other choice, but your words have stuck with me today and remind me that I need to do more in regards to self care.
Thanks. Linda

you are very welcome. Remember, I raised 3 little boys I had in 4 years! My husband was emotionally absent. His favorite expression was "wada ya wanna do?" He was a nice man, but I got real tired of raising 4!! I left when my youngest was 15.
Blessings, Sabra
