Severe Itch from 3rd degree burns

My daughter{17yrs old}is healing from 2nd and 3rd degree burns on her legs she received 07/21/2010. The healing of the burn it's self is very good but, she has developed severe itching around the first of October, at the wounds as well as all over her body as it seems to move from spot to spot. Tried over the counter meds, no effect. Oatmeal baths worked short term but, little relief now. She applies Aveeno lotion and Lubriderm keeping the skin moist especially the wound area.
Cold or heat does not matter, happens day and night, night being worse. Meal time has not effect or foods seem not to be a trigger.
She has refrained from causing sores by scratching but, I'm sure she is damaging her skin by the constant itch at night.

This is just a forum. Assume posts are not from medical professionals.
You might start with Calendula homeopathic ointment made by Boiron, and sold in many stores.

You might also use Calendula is 30c, 100c, or 200c.

Urtica Urens might also be of use depending on what the burn was from.

See...the effective med for burns is Canthris. (Including the itching).

Apply Canthris cream externally and give her Canthris 30c...internally thrice a day.

Reduce frequency of internal med...once she begins to improve.

I have treated many with Canthris...and chances are that (even) the marks will go away or become feeble after a period of time. The itching will subside.

If you notice that blood is not circulating in the area of the burns...give additionally one dose of Hypericum 200 c every morning for a week.

Can give on same days as Canthris.

For a busy household...it is good to keep a copy of this book at home:

and Gail Derin-Kellogg, OMD

It covers many day-to-day emergencies that we may enounter.

hello. i have 3rd degree burns and grafts to my left leg, arm, breast, neck and chin. please try and persuade your daughter not to scratch. i find sun sets itching off but if i scratch the blood vessels burst and the skin becomes inflamed and it becomes itchier. i know other burns patients who don't find that the sun hurts their skin. side effects seem to vary according to the injury. i try to cover up in the sun. creams don't seem to work on my skin but they do with other people. my skin is so plasticky in texture that creams merely seem to smear off rather than seep in. cooling cloths can help though. chatting to other burns patients who have experienced your problems is really helpful. could your daughter chat to other patients. i really would recommend that.
