If you need it now, I suggest you get any of the commercional remedies - homeopathic (I only know Boiron's Oscilococcinum or Paragrippe) or allopathic (good old aspirin :) ). And then, if you have colds often, solve the problem with a carefully chosen remedy for your chronic condition.
When I need to get rid of cold or "flu" fast, I take aspirin or drink a diuretic tea (made of linden or black elder or whatever herbs are used in your area), get in bed, cover myself completely with a warm blanket and stay there until I'm completely soaked with perspiration. Then I get out fast, take dry clothes, drink as much liquid (water, tea) as I'm able to, drink more herbal tea (or take another aspirin if needed - lasts 3-4 hours) and go to bed again. Don't read or think about what you must do during this, just rest or sleep. You will feel much better after sweating for some hours in bed :) I did it before an exam, the day before I felt a flu is trying to seize my body, so I sweated during the night and in the morning I felt so much better I could go to the exam.

When you feel a cold coming on then take a dose of Aconite 1m.
Usually works -- but only in the early stages.
