Natrium Muriaticum

I was recommended to take Nat Mur 30 4 pills 3 times a day(Morning Noon and Night). The first pill I took I felt immediate results. My anxiety and tension melted away. The following day all symptoms came back and I have not been able to obtain the same results. Anyone know why?

This is just a forum. Assume posts are not from medical professionals.
Take Nat Mur 6x dose 3 tablets twice daily.

Report your response.

Did you continue taking the pills each day after that, or was it just for one day? Sometimes repeating the dose too often (especially as pills instead of as a liquid) can make the symptoms reoccur (aggravation or side effects).

However, the most likely explaination is that the remedy only palliated the symptoms temporarily, and will not work after that first improvement.

The normal process for homoeopathic cure, is for the symptoms to worsen before they get better. This is the way homoeopathic medicines work - the law of similars states what a substance can cause it can cure. Therefore when you first take a truly homoeopathic medicine it will often aggravate the symptoms initially then improve them after that.

However, when a medicine palliates (as orthodox medicine mainly does) you get the opposite effect - the symptoms improve initially then they will return or even aggravate later on. This is usually because they have used the Law of Opposites (countered a symptom with something that creates the opposite symptoms).

It is not uncommon to see symptoms being temporarily palliated by one of our medicines when the whole case is not taken into account.

To David

Do you agree with my recommendation that the patient takes Nat Mur 6x or would you rather she stayed with the 30c preferably in the Wet dose ?

I asked this question in the interest of this patient as you obviously have more experience in your practice than I do as I am not in Homeopathy as a professional.

Sorry Joe I didn't see your post as I was writing mine as you posted yours.

I can only comment on what appears to have happened. I have no idea what remedy might work or what Nat-mur 6c might do. No case means only a guess for me and I hate guessing.

Yes, I have continued the same dose each day as recommended by the homeopath. I explained to him the results I received the first day and he said to continue as it takes time for the body to adjust to the treatment. The reason for me taking the medication is due to anxiety, tense muscle pain for the past 5 years, and recently hair fall in the past 6 months. Now I'm confused if I should continue the treatment or try something else and if so what do I use?

Your homoeopath appears to have no understanding of how to assess a remedy reaction. This reaction is a poor one, and you will not get any more from Nat-mur 30c. In fact, the longer you take it the more likely you are to get side effects.

If I were very confident of a remedy choice, I would go up in potency in this situation before changing to a new remedy (so to 200c) - one dose only. If the remedy is correct then the reaction should be longer lasting. If it is not, there will be no reaction to it.

brisbanehomoeopath last decade
So your saying I should feel a very quick response to the medication? It's not the type of thing where you have to wait weeks or months?. Also, only one dose should be taken? Lastly, please forgive me if this is a ridiculous question but do I need to purchase the 200c potency or am I able to increase the amount of 30c pellets to test if this treatment is correct? By the way I'm not sure if this helps at all. When I first received the medication I misread the instructions and instead of taking 4 pellets. I only took 1 pellet of the 30c. Even with this 1 pellet the relief was significant. Is it possible that by taking another dose it eliminated the results?

There should be a fairly quick aggravation, followed by marked steady improvement. There will be individual variations to any remedy reaction of course, depending on many factors (type of pathology, age, amount of medical suppression, level of sensitivity to medicines etc).

Dosage must be tailored to the individual as well, although the safest method of dosing is a single test dose, only followed by more doses after assessment of the reaction. The higher the potency the less doses that are normally given/needed.

The remedy cannot cure itself. If it was truly curing you, the improvement will last a much longer amount of time (if not for good). You experienced a temporary palliation - this can happen because the remdy is partially similar (partially right) or because it temporarily creates a new state in you that suspends your old disease (this is called a proving, it is the way in which a homoeopathic medicine creates changes which *might* lead to cure if the remedy is the right one).

Thank you for you help.I have decided after reading your response to quit the treatment but what do I do now? How do I find the correct treatment?

Although treating through a forum like this is much more difficult than doing it in person, I or one of the other practitioners here may be able to make suggestions for remedies.

GUIDELINES FOR GIVING HOMOEOPATHIC CASE INFORMATION

It is important to describe all your problems in as much detail as you are able. One word answers and short sentences are not particularly helpful. Discuss each problem one at a time, providing (as a minimum level of detail) the following information.

1. What exactly happens?
2. Describe all sensations and pains. Each pain or sensation should be described in such a way that allows us to imagine having the same pain.
3. What causes the problem to get worse after it has started occurring?
4. What creates some relief for the problem?
5. What triggers the problem into occuring?
6. What time of the day or night does the problem occur?
7. When did the problem start? What was happening in your life at that time? Did some specific event or treatment take place just before the problem started?

Move from one problem to the next, doing the same thing. IT IS VITAL THAT YOU GIVE A COMPLETE PICTURE OF YOUR HEALTH BY PROVIDING ALL PROBLEMS YOU HAVE, EVEN IF NOT CONNECTED TO THE MAIN ONE, AND EVEN IF YOU CONSIDER IT OF LESS IMPORTANCE.

As well as this, please describe any traumatic incidents that have taken place in your life. Discuss anything that has had a lasting impact on you mentally, emotionally or physically.

Discuss the way that you manage or deal with your problems, or any problems that occur in your life.

Discuss any patterns you have noticed in your behavior.

Discuss any part of your life where you feel stuck or unable to change and grow.

Describe your childhood and the kind of environment you grew up in, with reference to your relationships with your family, your school experiences, and any serious childhood diseases.

If your earlier discussions have not mentioned these already, please describe:

1. The specific foods that you crave (not just like) or hate
2. The specific drinks that you crave or hate
3. What your sleep is like
4. How the weather and the temperature affects you
5. What kinds of things in the environment you are particularly sensitive to
6. What your general level of energy is like
7. What your level of sexual energy or desire is like

Below are my answers to your questions. I answered them the best I could.

1. What exactly happens?
Beginning about 5 or 6 years ago I woke up with terrible neck pain. I attributed this to lifting weights for the past couple of years. Assuming this pain would resolve on its, own I did nothing about it until it slowly started spreading to both my upper and lower back. The pain was excruciating. After learning that my mind emotions was the cause of the pain I noticed significant relief. Now I have lingering pain in my back which intensified at times. I can feel it when I move my arms in certain directions especially if I push my arms downward. My other symptom is my hair which in the past 6 months has begun to shed excessively. I was only joking about hair loss with family when I actually noticed a strand of hair fall on the couch. All the sudden I went into panic mode thinking my fear became reality. Sure enough, weeks later I was losing hundreds of hairs each day. I still have a full head of hair but it feels much thinner. I also now feel sensations on my scalp. It burns and feels tight when my worrying is at it’s worst, and then will tingle throughout the day as if a bug is crawling on it.
2. Describe all sensations and pains. Each pain or sensation should be described in such a way that allows us to imagine having the same pain.
The pain is a sore aching feeling. It’s almost like the feeling after you have utilized a muscle that your normally never use whether it be due to exercising or some physical activity. It’s the feeling you feel the next day of soreness but very intense.

3. What causes the problem to get worse after it has started occurring?
I’m not really sure what causes the problem to get worse. It could get worse due to me focusing on the symptoms. I know for a fact that worrying will cause pain in my scalp. As soon as I worry about my hair which usually happens when I find shed hairs my scalp will tighten.

4. What creates some relief for the problem?
Not thinking about the symptoms seems to cause some relief.

5. What triggers the problem into occuring?
Worrying, focusing on the symptoms.
6. What time of the day or night does the problem occur?
Different times.

7. When did the problem start? What was happening in your life at that time?
The problem started about 5 or 6 years ago. It was sudden pain after I woke up one morning. I live a very normal life almost too boring. There is no traumatic even that took place and nothing that I can recall that would have left a lasting impact. 5 years ago I was worried about which direction I was going to go in regards to college or work. I decided to start a company I kept sinking money into without any results. Although I don’t know if this was around the time the symptoms started.

Discuss the way that you manage or deal with your problems, or any problems that occur in your life.
Normally, I don’t have many problems in my life. I’m normally a very content and happy person. The way I have been dealing with these problems is probably not the best. They have consumed my life. It’s been my only focus. I have been researching nonstop for solutions.

Discuss any patterns you have noticed in your behavior.
My mind has circled on my symptoms and pain. I have some good days and some really bad days. My mood changes much more drastically.

Discuss any part of your life where you feel stuck or unable to change and grow.
There are things I would like to accomplish business wise and skill wise. Sometimes I feel like I can’t become consistently good at something so I lose confidence. I have never had a skill where I felt I could be consistently good at it. Even sports I always had in the back of my mind at one point or another I would choke no matter how much I practiced.

Describe your childhood and the kind of environment you grew up in, with reference to your relationships with your family, your school experiences, and any serious childhood diseases.
I grew up in a very financially stable environment. I have a great loving and supportive family. We are all very close. I wasn’t academically motivated; school to me was something I couldn’t wait to be over. I never had any serious childhood diseases.

If your earlier discussions have not mentioned these already, please describe:

1. The specific foods that you crave (not just like) or hate
I don’t really have any cravings. My favorite though is Chinese food.
2. The specific drinks that you crave or hate .
I love soda but I don’t crave it. I only drink water.
3. What your sleep is like
My sleep is poor. I have a hard time going to sleep.
4. How the weather and the temperature affects you
It’s currently winter here and I very much dislike it. I love the sunshine and warmth.
5. What kinds of things in the environment you are particularly sensitive to
Nothing that I am aware of
6. What your general level of energy is like
I usually have decent energy. On my happier days I am filled with energy. I do sometimes feel like I’m in a fog and I’m not really in the present moment.
7. What your level of sexual energy or desire is like
High

There are a couple of possibilities here. The one I would like to start with is Oxalic acid. Can you get hold of 30c?

brisbanehomoeopath last decade
I will have to search here locally. There is a local store here that might have it available. If not, is there a place I can purchase it online? Also, do I just take 1 pill of it and when will I know if it's the correct treatment or not? One other question. I just stopped taking Nat mur yesterday. Will this interfere at all with Oxalic acid or do I need to wait longer since I just stopped yesterday?

Thanks for all your help!

By the time you get the remedy enough time should have passed. I imagine, since this is not a common remedy, that you will be unable to get it locally.

I will give instructions when you get the remedy on how to take it.

brisbanehomoeopath last decade
You are correct. The homeopathic store locally does not have it. Do you have an recommendation of an online store to purchase it from?

Teachme last decade
As a practitioner I always buy my medicines from reputable pharmacies I know make the medicines from the actual substance and according to traditional guidelines for processing. Typically I use Helios in London, Ainsworths in Scotland, or Simillimum in New Zealand.

However many people seem to buy through the online store on this site without problems.

brisbanehomoeopath last decade
Ok thanks. Helios asks what form and what size package? https://www.helios.co.uk/cgi-bin/store.cgi?action=link&s.... Any recommendations? Also, should I order a different medication incase this doesn't work? This way I don't have to wait another week or 2 for it to arrive?

Hmmm...ok let me give that some thought - problem with second and third choices is that often the case changes after the first remedy, and you need to reassess.

Order the pillules when you do that - smallest container you can get (4g I think).

brisbanehomoeopath last decade
Ok thanks. I will wait to hear back before I place the order. Is it possible that there are multiple homeopathic medications for the same issue? I'm assuming if I went to 4 different homeopaths I would have been described 4 different medications. I wonder if there is a more common treatment I can try as there is a local homeopath store but they have never heard of Oxalic Acid.
