Arnica - problem with allergic reaction Page 2 of 2

This is just a forum. Assume posts are not from medical professionals.
After walking for 60-90 minutes, there's a bit of soreness & pain. Once I sit and elevate, there's no pain.

There's a little bit of swelling. But nothing like before. Today I was able to wear snug boots to go on my walk.

The toes are a bit stiff, but limbering up with the more walking I do. Limping is only slight. The oozing has stopped.

Skin is still discolored (darker).

Ok it appears those two doses have helped substantially, would you agree?

At this stage I would wait a bit longer to see if any more doses are needed.

Homoeopathic medicines are catalysts - their flow-on effect can last for some time so it is important not to take too much unless it is necessary.

Relapse of symptoms is one reason to repeat, as is failure to move forward any further after improvement.

Yes, the doses do seem to have helped. Thank you so much for your help. I appreciate all the time you put into helping me.

Three questions:
1. At this point, would you recommend using calamine lotion to speed up drying up of the bumps?

2. What do you think about applying castor oil to the foot, to speed the healing process? I did this after the same surgery to the other foot & it was very helpful--smoothed the skin & helped the scabs come off well. However, now I'm nervous about doing anything that might cause a setback.

3. Is dosage of Rhus-tox the same if I have a relapse of the symptoms or don't see significant improvements in the next week?

I would not suppress the skin at all using Calamine. Castor oil I am not so sure about - I would say that if you are only doing it to speed healing, there is no need, the remedy is already doing that.

Keep me informed on how things go. I will let you know what to do next if things don't progress. Generally speaking I would only get you to do one dose again, and this time you would need to make it in a small bottle with a dropper, if you can get hold of that.

Thanks again.

I'll give you an update next week, or if anything noteworthy happens before then.

I woke up this morning with approximately 12-14 new bumps new bumps on my hands, palms, arms and feet. The new bumps are itchy and full of liquid.

I'm not sure if this is related, but I'd had a bit of vitiligo on the back of my neck that had started 3 or 4 yrs ago, and is spreading over the last several days.

Ok repeat the remedy. Do you have a small bottle available? You need to dissolve 2 pillules into a mixture of alcohol and water, 1 part to 5, in a small bottle. One with a dropper is best but at least with a lid.

Hit the bottle firmly against the palm of the hand twice, place 1 drop (or as small an amount as you can) into a 1/2 cup of water, stir thoroughly and take a teaspoon into the mouth.

The vitiligo is part of your chronic state - I am not sure if it is aggravating on the remedy or your underlying chronic problem is acting up.

I need some clarification.

1. What size small bottle (how many ounces)?
2. What kind of alcohol? Rum, gin, vodka?

What is my underlying chronic problem? What can I do about it?

Any spirit will do so take your pick.

I use 15-30 ml bottles typically.

There are two states people will get into - Acute and Chronic. Acute is dependent on external factors (accidents, poisonings, epidemics). Chronic is dependent on the internal disease that everyone has to some degree, and is highly individual in the expression of its various manifestations. Homoeopathic philosophy revolves around understanding and curing the internal chronic disease which will have shown itself as different problems over a person's lifetime. This is the pinnacle of our medicine's power to do this. It is much more time consuming though and requires alot of details from the patient and much more work from the homoeopath.

Let's see first, what continuing the Rhus-tox does before getting caught up in that idea.

I took my dose of the Rhus-tox solution.

I will report back to you what happens tomorrow morning.

No change today.

Today I woke up with more bumps on my hands, palms, feet and legs. The new ones are coming up mostly as small constellations around some of the older bumps. In addition, here and there are single new bumps on my arms, legs, and hands.

They are also very itchy.

Is it still true that the other symptoms though are better, or continuing to improve?

It is quite possible that the Direction of Cure is being observed here - symptoms moving from inside to the outside. However, I would continue to repeat the rhus-tox for the moment - one dose a day for the next 3 days. We can reassess at that point.

I took the Rhus-tox for 3 days as you recommended. My foot looks a bit better, but I'm still getting a few new bumps everyday and some itching.

positivespirit last decade
Ok. We need to change potency. How easily can you get 200c?

brisbanehomoeopath last decade
I'll go look for it tomorrow morning.

Why do you think I'm not responding well?

positivespirit last decade
It's good it's just not quite enough.

I finally found the Rhus-tox 200c.

However, in the week that it's taken me to get it, I have improved significantly without any further intervention, besides drinking lots of water and exercise.

The foot is still somewhat swollen, moreso if I'm up and about all day. But the color is lightening up and there've been no new bumps for several days. The old bumps are drying up and going away steadily. Itching is mostly gone.

What do you think?

positivespirit last decade
I would say keep waiting for the moment. If there is any relapse we can look at redosing, or possibly using the 200c.

Hello brisbanehomeopath,
This note is to give you an update. It's now been almost 6 weeks since I last contacted you regarding my allergic reaction to arnica gel.

All bumps are gone and there's no itching. The swelling to the foot is a lot less, however there's still some swelling--to the point that I still cannot wear most closed shoes. Upon awakening, there's minimal or no swelling. But as the day progresses, the swelling increases. The foot is still quite dark, esp. around the areas where the incisions were.

I exercise (walking & stationary bike) for 2 hrs, 4-5 times a week. I drink lots of water and green tea.

What would you recommend to put a final end to the swelling, and to rid me of the hyperpigmentation? Any idea why it's taking so long?

Thank you.

positivespirit last decade
Well I would use Rhus-tox 200 firstly since it did so well previously on 30c. You have to get the potency right as well as the remedy to get cure finalized so to speak.

This is all part of your chronic state, so in the end it may be necessary to go deeper than we have been to finish this. Hopefully the Rhus-tox will do that though.

brisbanehomoeopath last decade
Is the preparation & dosage of the Rhus-tox 200 the same as for the other?

Also, what is my chronic state? What do you think is the root cause of it?

positivespirit last decade
Yes prepare and dose in exactly the same way, but only one dose to begin with.

I am not sure about the chronic state yet. I would have to go back over the information to see if anything stands out. Hopefully your chronic state matches Rhus=tox!
