Now married with 2 young children, but cannot hold down job as losing too many days through illness. Wife working full time

When feeling well enthusiastic, hard-working engergetic, but prone to catch any 'bug' going round resulting in 2or 3 or more days off. Then feels too tired and washed out to do anything. Depressed.

Always blocked with catarrah. Sometimes blocked / septic sinues ears etc. Constipation

Any help appreciated. Have tried Kali bich 30 for catarrah (some success though not total clearance)

Just taken 7 days Echinacea 30 to improve immune system with Hydrostatis 30

Now feel he would like to improve diet, stop smoking and drinking, but had fit Thurs night after stressful day.

Any input gratefully received

This is just a forum. Assume posts are not from medical professionals.
I am willing to take on your case. Type I diabetes is a very difficult disease to cure once it has established itself in a person, and especially when the person has become dependent on insulin.

If you don't know much about homoeopathy I would suggest following these links to educate yourself a little.

http://www.drluc.com/lecture-five.html

http://www.simillimum.com/education/homoeo-faq/general-quest....

You can start by filling in my intake form, after which I will undoubetdly have more questions. Once I have gathered enough information I will make the first prescription.

GUIDELINES FOR GIVING HOMOEOPATHIC CASE INFORMATION

It is important to describe all your problems in as much detail as you are able. One word answers and short sentences are not particularly helpful. Discuss each problem one at a time, providing (as a minimum level of detail) the following information.

1. What exactly happens?
2. Describe all sensations and pains. Each pain or sensation should be described in such a way that allows us to imagine having the same pain.
3. What causes the problem to get worse after it has started occurring?
4. What creates some relief for the problem?
5. What triggers the problem into occuring?
6. What time of the day or night does the problem occur?
7. When did the problem start? What was happening in your life at that time? Did some specific event or treatment take place just before the problem started?

Move from one problem to the next, doing the same thing. IT IS VITAL THAT YOU GIVE A COMPLETE PICTURE OF YOUR HEALTH BY PROVIDING ALL PROBLEMS YOU HAVE, EVEN IF NOT CONNECTED TO THE MAIN ONE, AND EVEN IF YOU CONSIDER IT OF LESS IMPORTANCE. You should address each problem separately using the above 7 questions as a guide.

As well as this, please describe any traumatic incidents that have taken place in your life. Discuss anything that has had a lasting impact on you mentally, emotionally or physically.

Discuss the way that you manage or deal with your problems, or any problems that occur in your life.

Discuss any patterns you have noticed in your behavior especially concerning your disease.

Discuss any part of your life where you feel stuck or unable to change and grow, especially where this occurred around the beginning of your disease, or as the disease evolved.

Describe your childhood and the kind of environment you grew up in, with reference to your relationships with your family, your school experiences, and any serious childhood diseases.

If your earlier discussions have not mentioned these already, please describe:

1. The specific foods that you crave (not just like) or hate
2. The specific drinks that you crave or hate
3. What your sleep is like
4. How the weather and the temperature affects you
5. What kinds of things in the environment you are particularly sensitive to
6. What your general level of energy is like
7. What your level of sexual energy or desire is like

It is extremely important for me to gather the PECULIAR
symptoms of your diabetes. This means any symptom which is not common for other people with the same diagnosis.

Please make sure you go through each symptom you have one at a time, giving as much detail as you can about each one.

Hello and many thanks for your kindness in replying.

I won't see him now until Wednesday as he has taken his family away for the Spring Bank Holiday weekend.

As he was looking ill again today, feeling removed from surroundings somewhat dizzy/faint, hot and cold alternately I suggested he took some more of the Echinaca & Hydrostatis 30 plus some Aconite 30 , and said he could take them whenever he felt ill over the weekend.

Shall I phone him to say no?
He took some when with me and seemed to feel better quickly, but I insisted he stopped working and rested which may have helped also

He took his sugar level which he said was aceptable at 11 - he had injected an hour before - but his face looked drawn and grey.

He has recently had his brand of insulin changed as the the one he had been taking for a number of years is no longer available.

Previously he injected twice a day - once am once pm, now he has to inject after eating and once a day, and he feels new insulin not suiting and said it took a while to get used to the previous brand

He tries to go to the seaside each weekend, as he says he feels much better there. Loves wind, waves, storms, quality of seaside air, mountains -not that our mountains are that high :-)

Seems a loving personality, strong family ties with mother father and siblings. Also very fond of his two young children especially boy of 7. Doesn't mention wife often, though I think they speak/text on phone during day. I think there may be some tension owing to him being ill so often, but this is just my guess. Loves animals/plants/wildlife.

Conscientious, hard worker, intelligent, but probably finds books/maths difficult. Involved in sport much as a child (mother PE teacher, father physics teacher)

Joined army at 18 for 6 years, (tank / cavalry regiment) don't think rose much through ranks, but was star trainee of year as cadet. Put in reconnaissance regiment.

Doesnt say much about service career but says best days of his life (not many men would not say that about their 18-24 years?)

I occasionally need to have birds killed (on farm) and thought he would be fine, and although perfectly willing to do so I sensed it put him under great stress, so only asked once.

Talks enthusiastically about hunting and fishing, but again is this bravado?

If there is a job I know he won't relish I don't tell him in advance as I sense he will worry about not being competent for the task, although he is.

Many Many thanks Susan

Nobody should ever be taking more than one homoeopathic medicine at once - one of our most basic principles is the Law of the Single Remedy. Since a medicine can have side effects, taking more than one opens you up to some fairly complicated negative consequences.

Find one medicine that helps, and use that if necessary, rather than mixing them together.

Homoeopathic medicines are not like orthodox drugs, they don't do anything unless they are chosen according to the law of similars. They don't work like herbs, nor like vitamins.

The important thing with homoeopathic case taking is to get the details directly from the patient. The subtle shades of expression can make the difference in deciding between remedies.

Observations from family or friends, while somewhat helpful, cannot replace direct information from the patient, and in fact can often conflict with it. Very often it is theorizing about what is going on for the patient, which can mislead.

If I can contact him I will suggest he stops taking anything further, and I will print out your list of questions and see whether he will answer them for you

We are in a rural area with little access to homoeopaths, and his family circumstances mean it is highly unlikely he would be willing visit one, otherwise I would suggest that as a best option. I did suggest he ask his GP for a referral to our nearest Homoeopathic hospital, but he has either not done it, or been refused

My own homoeopathy experience is more 'first aid' though used successfully on myself, animals and family. He had bad catarrh one day, and I gave him some Kali bich which helped, then he had a week off with an infected ear. As he is so prone to catch everything which goes around, which then develops into something far worse he took Echinacea and Hydro for a week and as a result didn't 'go down' with anything for around 3mths which he said was the longest he had been clear of illness. Then caught a bug and was ill for 4 days, so we tried a repeat for 7 days.

I am not 'trained' in homoeopathy though have read and used for 'first aid' for some 25 years. I would like to help him if I can, and was heartened when he said he now thought he would like to give up smoking and drinking and have a better diet as I felt maybe the remedies were helping to change his state of mind

I understand what you are saying about my 'inferring' things, but it is not an easy situation as I am his employer not his practitioner. But I think I am very sensitive to nuances in behaviour, and have certainly had success in helping others, though not with constitional remedies, which is why I found this board, as I feel that this must be the answer, rather than 'firefighting' as each new illness comes along

I hope you can bear with me, and maybe it could be the start of a better life for this young man, who at present seems at a difficult point.

Many thanks
Susan
