sepia for anxiety/gad
hi...my homeopath today gave me sepia 30c in water to take every other day for one week. (one teaspoon straight from bottle after 2 succutions) because for the last two weeks i have been suffering from bad anxiety that started with a bad panic attack at night while i had my period and was under stress. since then, i've been in a constant state of anxiety, worried about everything, my kids, etc. and about having more panic attacks. haven't had an appetite at all because i've been so upset and depressed and feel hopeless. my general doctor gave me a script for zoloft, which i really don't want to get started on, never have taken antidepressants and my homeopath is convinced that Sepia is the way to go..I HOPE SO!!! i'm 33 years old with 2 small kids...any input would be greatly appreciated, i just want to see if this seems like the right remedy for me...thank you![message edited by melrose on Sat, 04 Jun 2011 01:13:11 BST]

This is just a forum. Assume posts are not from medical professionals.
There is no way to tell from what you have said. Homoeopaths generally take an hour or two to accumulate enough information to make a prescription - the brief and general description you have given is not enough to know if Sepia is the right remedy for you. I assume your homoeopath took more time and care in making the choice though.
Are you saying that you have been worse since taking the Sepia? If so, you have been given too many doses. You are also being given too large a dose. You should not be taking the dose directly from the bottle, but a single drop should be put into an amount of water, stired, and a single teaspoon taken out of that.
You need to stop your remedy. Did your homoeopath not give you instructions for when you get an aggravation or overdose?

i just got the remedy today and took one dose. i only took it a couple hours ago, the symptoms i listed above are the symptoms i've been experiencing BEFORE the sepia. no, my homeopath did take the time, i've been her patient for a while, but because this is the first time i've been so upset about my condition and how its affecting my life, i want to make sure its the right one and would like to see what others say.
what other info. would you need to know? i just summed up what i've been experiencing the last two weeks, not aggravations.

also, the sepia is two sepia pellets put in water and from that i take a teaspoon every other day...it's not a tincture of straight sepia (if that even exists, i'm not sure, but just wanted to clarify in case)

You don't really want to give your whole case here and have someone analyze it do you? Are you lacking confidence in your practitioner? I know it is hard at the beginning, but developing a trusting relationship with your homoeopath is vital. Websites like this can be great tools for educating yourself, but you have to be careful not to let them undermine your faith in your practitioner. There are a lot of different opinions here, many of who are not trained in homoeopathy. So it is always better to go back to your practitioner to talk about your doubts I think. I know that is what I like my own patients to do.

i have no problem with my practitioer, but i also like second opinions or just to see what others think. it doesn't mean i'm going to stop treatment, but sometimes i also come up with questions that i think about later and don't want to keep calling my homeopath for. i have no problem repeating my history if necessary. just wanted to see too if anybody else experienced something similar to what i am and what helped them.

This is about my niece and this is my sister's story:
So I have always been a believer in natural home remedies and homeopathic medicine until yesterday ... my 14 yr nearly had a heart attack yesterday from taking sepia 30c which is used for migraines and mood enhancement. She was rushed from school to Centralia Hospital with a heart rate of 180 and from there she was transported to children's hospital. She is still in the ICU but is doing very well today and hopefully can come home this evening. It is unknown if she will have any long term problems from this as sepia and most homeopathic meds are not regulated and have very little info to what side effects they may have. At first I was scared and angry yesterday because I thought my daughter had tried to do something stupid and selfish only to find out she hadn't, it was a side effect of something that is supposed to be natural and help you but it nearly took my babies life. I am soooo thankful that she is still here with me and I hope that by reading this my friends and family will be more cautious to the dangers of un regulated supposedly natural remedies can cause.
