Adult Forehead Acne

I’m a bit confused reading all the forums on the ABC website so I thought I’d take a chance & try to list my individual problem in the hope someone will be able to give me a specific remedy. I’m a 28 year old male suffering from mainly forehead acne. I never have more than 4 or 5 spots at any one time each one ranging in size from between half to one cm in size. They are generally red, lumpy & sore to touch. I began suffering from this problem around the age of 19 years old and when thinking back it started a year or two after having my tonsils removed as a result of glandular fever, although I’m not sure if this is relevant. Around 4 years ago I started taking high doses of Pantothenic Acid (Vitamin B5) and the stuff actually worked to the point where eventually my acne totally cleared up. After that I would get an occasional outbreak, but nothing too serious & I would simply dose up again on the B5 and very quickly it would clear up again. Recently I gave up smoking and not long afterwards I had an outbreak & this time the Pantothenic Acid hasn’t worked, so I’m presuming that my body has built up a resistance to it. Other symptoms which may or may not be related are lethargy, inability to hold concentration, occasional paranoia, low sex drive, cold hands & feet, dry hands, dark circles under eyes with occasional heaviness, lack of facial hair (i.e. I only need to shave once or twice a week.), lack of patience, short fuse.

I currently have a healthy diet, no red meat, plenty of fruit & vegetables & lots of water! I’ve heard that Silicea may be beneficial as would Echinacea, any help would be appreciated.

This is just a forum. Assume posts are not from medical professionals.
Stopping smoking can do that. Smoking lessens the skin's ability to create sebum (skin oils). Quitting smoking means your skin is now secreting more sebum, which can sometimes clog pores.

Wash the area a few times a day w/ antibacterial soap, and rub w/ rubbing alcohol afterwards to keep the spots from getting infected.
If this causes your skin to dry out, use a little aloe vera gel to soothe the dry skin. Tea tree oil used topically can help too -- just one or two drops rubbed into the skin.

Good luck! I have spots too, and this helps me quite a bit. :-)

well done for giving up smoking - it ain't easy!
as orume says aloe vera is very good and tea tree (some people can be sensitive to tea tree so make sure this is well diluted and just try on a small patch first).
you can also get some good aloe vera which can be taken internally and this is very good for skin.
It is possible that you are detoxing from the tobacco so the usual treatment needs some extra help.
you could try some homeopathic graphites 6c also. Take 1 pillule 3 times daily for 3-4 weeks to see if this helps your skin and general wellbeing. Don't take for longer than this without coming back for advice. Reduce dosage if you get an improvement before the 3-4 weeks and stop taking if it heals up completely. If it makes it a lot worse then stop taking also.
If you have not taken homeopathic remedies before then be aware that you do not take the pillules/tablets with water - you put just one under the tongue and allow it to dissolve. Do not eat, drink, clean teeth etc. for 5-10 minutes before and after taking the remedy.

Just wondering what benefits the graphite might bring to my condition also, with regards to the whole post smoking detox thing does that mean that it's a temporary thing that will go away once all the bad stuff has left my system?

it is possible it will improve after detox and after the graphites but not disappear completely straight away. If the remedy helps then the 'spot attacks' should become less frequent - each time they come you can treat them with either this remedy if it suits or another if this one no good. Gradually they should be very infrequent 'attacks' or go altogether. graphites is a good remedy for coldness and bodily 'underfunction' that you describe.

of course graphites treats spots as well!

Ok, started with the Graphite today & will report back with any changes. By the way Erika, do you think I should stop taking the Pantothenic acid now?

Also Erika, what can you tell me about Silica/Silicea & Echinacea? Both have been mentioned on this site as possible remedies for forehead specific acne...

silica and echinacea are also possible remedies - you could read about them on the abc site and see what you think of their skin and other symptoms.
should be fine to continue taking the pantothenic acid.
It would also help you to make sure you eat foods rich in vitamin C and zinc - or take a good supplement for this. Also a selenium supplement may help. Make sure you get good supplements without all the extra colours, flavours and additives. If you do not have one it would be worth borrowing or buying a vitamin and mineral bible (written by Earl Mindell)
let me know how it goes with the graphites. :)

Ok, one week in & I've been taking Graphite & Echinacea religiously. The Echinacea i've been taking is the Bioforce one, 15 drops in water 3 times daily. I've also started taking zinc & selenium supplements, but didn't bother with the Vit C one as I consume plenty of it in the foods I eat. No real changes to report as yet, one thing I have noticed though is that the spots have changed in form. Rather than the usual lumpy red spots, they have quickly developed into yellow heads which look & feel very sore. Any ideas as to why the sudden change & when I might be able to expect seeing some improvements?
