Arnica 30 in the Wet dose is your remedy taken twice daily. It helps by reducing that urge for the next smoke and has helped many thousands of smokers to QUIT smoking judging by their reports.

Arnica has also helped Alcoholics and I have recently had another unusual report of a woman who was addicted to Chocolate who ate at least 1 slab daily who has lost the urge for it.

I failed to give instructions to make the Wet dose which I copy below:

The Wet dose of any Homeopathic remedy is made as follows:

Order the remedy in the Liquid pack in Alcohol, also referred to as Liquid Dilution in a bottle preferably with a dropper arrangement.
Get a 500ml bottle of Spring Water from the nearest supermarket.
Pour out about 3cm of water from the bottle to leave some airspace.
Insert 3 drops of the remedy into the bottle and shake the bottle hard at least 6 times before you sip a capfull of the bottle or a large teaspoonful which is the dose.
Shaking the bottle hard is homeopathic succussion and this enhances the effect of the remedy on the user.

I have been treating smokers for most of the 20 odd years I have been in practice.

Firstly, my main observation has been that there is NO magical medicine for giving up, not in homoeopathy, not in orthodox medicine.

The thing that ALWAYS allows people to give up, is WILLPOWER and COMMITMENT. For many people, these alone are enough.

However, for some, the symptoms, both physical and emotional that come up can be difficult to manage. For these people, homoeopathy provides great comfort. The specific symptoms lead you to the specific remedy. It will not necessarily be Nux-vomica, Tabacum, Caladium etc. The individual reaction you have, is the best blueprint for planning out treatment. Just as it is for homoeopathic treatment normally.

Since on a forum like this, it can take time to prescribe or even obtain remedies, a suitable strategy might be to withdraw slowly, describing the symptoms as they come up. A remedy can then be chosen based on this.

Going cold turkey would undoubtedly produce a wide range of interesting symptoms that would be helpful, but the question is could you live through those long enough to wait for the remedy to be prescribed?

To David,

I have studiously avoided any confrontations with you during the past few months on the ABC but I felt that I must break my silence today to comment on your observations on this thread, on the classical remedies that you listed to help smokers, which I too used to prescribe to my patients in the past but to no avail.

I do agree with your statement:
' The thing that ALWAYS allows people to give up, is WILLPOWER and COMMITMENT. For many people, these alone are enough. ' This is where Arnica 6c in the Wet dose helps to provide that extra 'courage' to help the addict to desist and control that urge.

It was about 10 years ago that I first observed that Arnica 6c helped smokers to stifle that urge they have for the next smoke. It was a serendipitous discovery for me at that time and I then shared my findings on this and other Homeopathic Forums I visit as I felt that my discovery deserved to be shared with other including classical homeopaths. Many patients have confirmed since that time that they were indeed helped by Arnica 6c and were extremely grateful for my advice.

I then experimented with Alcoholics and there are many here in Sri Lanka today who have stated that they owe me a deep debt of gratitude for having virtually saved their lives.

I have in the recent past been treating a 45 year old woman who was obese by our SL standards at around 85kg who was a Chocolate addict and who used to eat at least one 250gm slab daily routinely. She also used to overeat and was Bulimic as she had no control over that urge to eat till satiated and even after.

I was indeed very surprised to discover that after just a week, she informed me that she did not have that urge for Chocolates and was no more wanting to overeat.

The point that I wish to convey to you is that it is not only the listed remedies that are generally identified after the long process of case taking, that are capable of helping the patient.

'Joepathy' also helps in a manner that the classical approach to Homeopathy cannot equate.

I would appreciate if you can use Arnica 6c for the 4 common ailments listed above and if you do so, I would appreciate your report.
