Platina antidote, please?

Hello. I need advice from a homeopath, so I would appreciate it if anyone could help me in this situation. I am in a foreign country and since arriving here I have been suffering from constipation. Yesterday I called a homeopath who knows me and she recommended platina. Unfortunately, I tried to call her back to tell her that I did not have the potency recommended by her with me (200c) and in the afternoon I took Platina M, which was the only thing I had. At the moment, it seemed to work since in a couple of hours it sent me to the loo, but this morning I feel constipated again and after taking platina I have felt aggitated. I tried to rub my hands with camphor to antidote it but I do not know if it has worked or not. So my question is: is camphor an antidote to almost any remedy, platina included? I also have Pulsatilla with me (200 and M). Should I try to antidote it with Pulsatilla? The worst part is that, without me knowing it, my period seemed to have started yesterday but it stopped abruptly. When I took Platina I did not know that it was coming, since I expected it to start a few days later.

I would appreciate any advice on how to deal with the situation. Thank you.

This is just a forum. Assume posts are not from medical professionals.
It is possible that using the Platina in this way has suppressed the constipation, making you worse than before. This is often an unfortunate side effect of using the remedies in this simple and one-sided way.

Suppression is not the same as proving a remedy (developing symptoms of the remedy that you didn't have before). A proving is new symptoms - things you don't normally have. You can antidote a proving fairly easily - suppression you cannot. Suppression needs to be addressed properly, with symptoms being used to prescribe a new remedy. Suppression is not the remedy so much as it is your body reacting to the lid that was placed on the symptom (resulting in pressure from inside trying to re-establish it).

The best way to deal with this, is to use the symptoms to prescribe the correct medicine. That will solve everything. And it will do so without much fuss.

Dear Mr Kempson,

Thank you for your message. The information on suppression is so valuable.
It seems that the situation is slightly improved in the sense that I did have a stool this morning and I am feeling better. The thing is that I had used platina before with benefit. I was wondering if my feeling not so well yesterday could be due to my period. I do not know if I have suppressed it with platina or not, I suppose I should wait for a few days before reaching that conclusion. I was wondering whether you could advise me on the following: should I wait for a couple of weeks to see how I feel or should I just make an appointment with my homeopath in a few days, when I return to my country? I have to admit that what bothers me is more the concern with the possibility of having suppressed my menses and the consequences of that rather than the way I actually feel (which is not so bad, I would say).

Thank you very much.

So, your periods always come early? Please shed more light on your monthly cycles?

How many doses of Platina 1M did you take since last week.

Have you already tried to antidote with Pulsatilla 200C or 1M?

No, my periods are fairly regular 28 days- 1 month, but not necessarily on the same day. They may be a bit late (3-4 days). I only took one dose of Platina M yesterday and that was all. I have not tried to antidote with Pulsatilla because I do not know if it will work. After all, this is not a proving of Platina. Actually I took pulsatilla a few months ago and three days after taking it my period cam. Before that I had taken Platina but never too frequently (1,5 months apart, 200 potency) and Pulstailla sort of released my period and a vaginal discharge that was still me with me until yesterday. I think, unfortunately, Platina suppressed that. I never took remedies unless recommended by the homeopath I was seeing but I am under the impression that by prescribing platina she caused some suppressions. I would ppreciate your opinion on that. Thank you.

Platina is a remedy that is mentioned in our repertories for 'Constipation from travelling'. It is possible for any homoeopath to accidentally suppress by applying a remedy in this way. The whole state needs to be addressed not just one symptoms - of course I know nothing about your case, or the amount of work your homoeopath has put into understanding your health. She may very well have had other reasons for prescribing it.

Cure in homoeopathy starts with aggravation and ends with improvement

Palliation in homoeopathy starts with (marked sometimes dramatic) improvement and ends with worsening of the symptoms. This worsening is often in proportion to the amount of palliation (how aggressively the medicine was applied to keep the symptoms away).

Suppression in homoeopathy starts with improvement in just a few areas or symptoms (mostly specific locations not general 'person-wide' ones), and ends in new symptoms showing themselves, either replacing the suppressed ones or appearing alongside them. Suppression is usually difficult to achieve with single doses of remedies, although not impossible.

If you actually experienced aggravation then improvement, then you probably had the right medicine.

If you experienced improvement, then worsening, then improvment, then chances are it was palliation and your own vital force has rectified the acute on its own.

From your expanded description I doubt very much that you have experienced suppression.

Hi,

Thanks for the info. I am happy to know that you don't self-prescribe. Please always be careful with the potency of the remedy as it makes a lot of difference.

As you already know that Pulsatilla is the antidote remedy for Platina, but, only if your current symptoms call for it?

FYI, One takes Pulsatilla Q, if the periods are late?

If the periods are early, then, we prescribe Pulsatilla 30C to correct the problem? It really works. So, the potency selection is the key for a cure.

Regarding Platina 1M, in my considered opinion based upon reading all of your data on this forum, is not your remedy. This remedy should have been given to your boy friend not you. If you could still give him a dose of Platina 200C, good chances are that he will never leave you?

If you want me to look at your case and suggest something, I must study your data by carefully looking at the whole picture not just a few symptoms? But, a couple of experts and angels on this forum suggested Pulsatilla 30C a while back with no feedback from you. David, one of the best on this forum, requested you to fill out his intake form, but, you never replied???

I hope and pray that you will get well soon.

Regards
Nawaz

Dear Mr Kempson,

Again, your answer is of much help. My sense of well being is slowly returning, although last night I found it very hard to fall asleep, which was unusual because I used to be very sleepy in the evenings, and after a few problems which have become chronic in the past few years I cannot speak of actual well being. I did begin writing a full report of the symptoms as you asked me some time ago, but never got to complete it as I was preparing to go abroad and had a million things to fix before my departure. That report is only partly done and I will finish and send it once I return home. Perhaps then you will have a better picture and as we have discussed in a previous thread, if you have the time, might want to make a recommendation based on all the data of the questionnaire.
Again, many thanks for the information palliation and suppression.

Dear Nawaz,

I did take Pulsatilla but I did not react to 30c in any way, however I also had a tube of Pulsatilla 200c and since my symptoms at the time seemed to fit pulsatilla, that was the one time when I took it without being prescribed that potency and it released some symptoms that had been suppressed (I can only guess, I am not a trained homeopath and have no claim whatsoever of any expertise)by Platina, which had been prescribed to me with what looked like improvement in certain areas. Pulsatilla improved my state of well being for some time but only in a limited way and helped me deal with what looked like a gastritis which did not respond to allopathic treatment.
You are right, I should have posted my answer to David Kempson earlier and I did write part of that, but I had to go abroad and had a million things to do so I did not finish the document with the answers to the questionnaire. It is still in my computer and I will finish and post it for him on my return.
I wish to thank you for your comments and good wishes. I do have a question: what potency is Q?
Many thanks.

Q is the homoeopathic substance, crude form, from where the potencies are made.
