Swelling on top lip

i get it about once per month and my lip just swells up quite big. it becomes itchy and doesnt go down for about 24hrs. i have never had it on my bottom lip, only on my top one.

i think that it is related to the hives i have (see a few posts below). but im not sure.

i also have braces and this may possibly be linked to it.

can anyone help me to reduce my lip swelling up and/or does anyone have an methods to reduce swelling on the lip???
